We are excited to release the first major version of the WhatsApp Desktop MCP Companion! This release brings massive improvements to background automation, official API support, and Windows desktop integration.

✨ What's New

• Background "Window Wakeup" Automation: The application can now run entirely minimized in your taskbar. When you ask your AI to send a message to a new contact, the invisible browser briefly wakes up to bypass Chromium throttling, types your message, and instantly hides itself again!
• Native Meta Cloud API Support: For Business accounts, you can now toggle from "WhatsApp Web" mode to "Meta Cloud API" mode directly in the config UI. Send messages 100% headlessly using official Meta developer tokens with zero window popups.
• 1-Click Windows Setup: We now provide a packaged .exe installer. It automatically creates a Start Menu entry, a Desktop Shortcut, and handles installation paths so you don't have to touch python scripts.
• Refined Desktop Experience: The app now properly registers its custom icon in the Windows taskbar rather than defaulting to the generic Python logo.
• Updated UI & README: The web configuration dashboard has been polished, and the repository now features a beautiful gallery of screenshots.
