Install

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): download the .dmg, open it, then drag vssh to Applications.
  • Linux (x64, Debian/Ubuntu): download the .deb, then: 
    sudo apt install ./vssh_*_amd64.deb
  • Linux (x64, Fedora/RHEL): download the .rpm, then: 
    sudo dnf install ./vssh-*.x86_64.rpm
  • Windows (x64): download and run the .exe installer.

macOS one-time setup

If macOS shows "vssh is damaged and can't be opened" for an unsigned app:

sudo xattr -cr /Applications/vssh.app

Why this is needed on macOS

Unsigned apps downloaded from the internet may be quarantined by Gatekeeper.
Removing the quarantine marker allows the app to open.

Legacy detailed steps

  1. Download the macOS .dmg below.
  2. Open the DMG and drag vssh to Applications.
  3. If prompted by Gatekeeper, run: 
    sudo xattr -cr /Applications/vssh.app
  4. Open vssh.
