3.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 20 Oct 05:44
  • Contacts like Apple Contacts: a much larger photo when viewing a contact; editing shows headings above the fields and one card per group – first and last name side by side, then email, phone and addresses. Prefix, middle name, suffix, nickname and display name sit behind "More name fields", rarely used groups behind "More fields"; anything already filled in always stays visible. The edit photo shows the initials and follows the name as you type; the details keep a minimum width so nothing gets pushed out of view
  • One-click unsubscribe: for mailing lists that support it (e.g. Google), "Unsubscribe" asks once and unsubscribes directly instead of opening an empty browser page, then shows "Unsubscribed"
  • Gmail: read/unread now applies right away to the copies in the other label folders (Important, All Mail …); folders with unread mail are checked every 5 minutes, so mail read on your phone or on the web no longer stays unread
  • Message cards and header: senders without a name show the name from their domain like Apple Mail ("rueckgabe@amazon.de" becomes "Amazon"); dates before yesterday are shown in full; card content is centred vertically
  • Status bar: flat and slim (22 px) with small text and icons, without the Today pane button; in Mail the sidebar grey runs down to the bottom edge
  • Today pane: showing and hiding it is smooth; "+" → New Event opens the quick window fully on screen instead of cut off at the right edge

Install: download halo-spaces-3.2.0.xpi below, then in Thunderbird open Add-ons and Themes → gear icon → Install Add-on From File…. Existing installations update automatically.

3.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 19 Oct 17:05
  • Search like Apple Mail: the search field searches all mailboxes (not Trash or Junk) – subject, sender, recipients and message text; a date like "12.10" also finds mails from that day. Hits appear in the card list with a result count, highlighted in yellow
  • Contacts: companies without a photo get a building icon, people without a photo show their initials in the details; account labels under the name; calmer labels and lighter cards; the photo no longer jumps when you drag the divider
  • Tasks: an empty list shows a friendly note instead of a blank area; the hint to choose a task calendar sits next to the + button; iCloud's placeholder reminders are hidden; details, buttons and column headers in the halo.spaces style
  • Calendar: events spanning several days are shown as one continuous bar; all-day events without an emoji get a small calendar icon
  • Settings: content centred and at most 800 px wide, roomier sidebar, macOS-style checkboxes and radio buttons, restyled view pickers, number fields and account settings
  • Message header: recipients shown by name like Apple Mail (address on hover); blocked images show a neat placeholder instead of their alt text; notes above the message fill their strip
  • Tooltips are readable again in every appearance; space buttons show just their name
  • Previews no longer show codes like "‌"; the search magnifier no longer turns into an image placeholder
  • "Say Thanks" in the halo.spaces window works again; the window no longer shows an e-mail address (use "Send Feedback")
  • Smoother Today pane animation, no grey strip next to its button when it is closed, and the list divider in the toolbar lines up exactly

Install: download halo-spaces-3.1.0.xpi below, then in Thunderbird open Add-ons and Themes → gear icon → Install Add-on From File…. Existing installations update automatically.

3.0.99

Choose a tag to compare

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 18 Oct 09:56
  • Today pane: the + button sits top right next to the title; the event list runs to the bottom, with the same spacing at the bottom as at the top and a soft fade while more events follow
  • Today pane button shows today's date in a calendar icon
  • Message list dates like Apple Mail (time today, "Yesterday", weekday, then date)
  • Minimum widths for all areas in every space – nothing overlaps when the window gets small
  • Message header: room for folder and time measured exactly, long folder names shortened, sender name on one line
  • Notes above the message keep Thunderbird's colours; text wraps and the button stays beside it
  • Previews no longer show HTML code (e.g. some Amazon mails)
  • Finer dividers on Retina displays, better "now" contrast in dark mode, mail cards optically centred

3.0.98

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 22:37
  • Messages in the system font like Apple Mail (Mac: SF Pro, Windows: Segoe UI, Linux: your desktop font) – messages with their own font keep it; can be turned off in Preferences
  • Unsubscribe in the mailing-list note works again
  • Notes above the message (remote content, junk, read receipts) are now calm and grey; the scam warning stays yellow
  • No more action bar in the message header, no duplicate date for messages without recipients
  • No restart needed after installing

3.0.97

Choose a tag to compare

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 21:40
  • Message header like Apple Mail: a mailing-list note with Unsubscribe instead of the List-ID line, the folder next to the time, and Delete / Reply / Reply All / Forward on the divider when you hover over the message
  • Updates right at start: halo.spaces looks for a new version when Thunderbird starts and installs it (at most every 6 hours; respects Thunderbird's update settings; can be turned off in Preferences → Updates)
  • Windows/Linux: toolbar buttons hide in time when space runs out

3.0.96

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 20:37
  • Reading view like Apple Mail: the sender picture from the card next to name and subject; plain-text messages in the system font (can be turned off)
  • Compose window and dialogs: aligned header labels, a calmer formatting bar, date and time as one field, round dialog buttons
  • New setting "Logos from sender websites" – off means no outside requests at all
  • Hover actions on mail cards are now off by default (Preferences → Mail)
  • French, Spanish and Italian
  • Fixes: folder title of newly created folders, cut-off "Add-ons and Themes" link in Settings, icons on the selected card
  • Under the hood: tests with Thunderbird Beta, screenshot comparison between releases, Linux tests on GitHub

3.0.95

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 16:43
  • Quick event window: type naturally, e.g. "tomorrow 12:30 for 90 min" or "Fri 9–11". A double-click in the calendar opens the quick window instead of the big dialog
  • Mail cards: flag, archive and delete right on the card when you hover over it
  • Birthdays from your address books appear as their own read-only calendar
  • Settings page (Add-ons and Themes → halo.spaces → Preferences): hover actions, birthdays, calendar emoji with your own keywords, list width and more
  • Keyboard: visible focus ring on halo.spaces controls
  • All texts now come from one translation table (German/English)
  • Under the hood: automated tests run before every release

3.0.94

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 15:28

New

  • Emojis in the calendar: a matching emoji appears before event titles (🎂 birthday, 🏋️ training, 🦷 dentist, 🏖️ holidays, 📞 call …) in day, week and month view and in the Today pane. Display only – your events are not changed. Turn it off in Help → halo.spaces….
  • Message list keeps its width like Apple Mail: on large displays the message gets the extra room instead of the list growing past 2000 px. Drag to change, double-click the divider to reset.
  • Quick event window: calendar menu with colour dots; Add is disabled with a hint when no calendar fits.
  • iCloud lists marked with ⚠️ explain why in a tooltip.

Fixed

  • Double-click on dividers resets them again; the message list and contact list dividers could be locked.
  • Toolbar on narrow windows: buttons hide cleanly (round capsules, divider line stays intact), search keeps at least 160 px.
  • Inbox is always first in each account; Gmail's Important follows.
  • Calendar list shows the status icon again for sync errors and read-only calendars.
  • Selected events stay readable on light calendar colours; dark mode space icons are brighter.
  • Tasks: compact quick-add row and a quiet hint when no calendar supports tasks.
  • Windows: no empty gap above the compose toolbar; system font in the halo.spaces window.
  • Many robustness and privacy fixes (cleanup on update, logo cache, contact photo links, IME input).

3.0.88

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 12:03

Changed

  • Quick event window: the calendar menu shows each calendar's colour dot, like Apple Calendar.
  • Tasks: the quick-add field is more compact, and the hint Please select a calendar that supports tasks is now a quiet text line instead of a large capsule.

3.0.87

@sruf79 sruf79 released this 17 Oct 11:48

Fixed

  • Double-click on a divider resets it to its default width again (folder list, address books, contact list, message list).
  • Dividers that couldn't be moved: the message list divider (and on smaller windows the contact list divider) was locked because the full toolbar was reserved as minimum width. Now only the essential buttons are reserved; when you drag the list wider, less important buttons hide like in Apple Mail.
