This PR changes the hashes from being handled as buffers to being handled as strings.
This way, it's easy to append a human readable suffix to indicate the hash algorithm,
following from discussions here: jbenet/random-ideas#1
but with a string suffix because that suits secure-scuttlebutt much better.
Will add to this to have tagged keys and signatures too.
