RenderWake prevents your system from sleeping only while Blender is rendering, and releases the wake lock automatically when rendering finishes or is cancelled.

✨ What’s new

  • Status bar indicator showing Awake: ON / OFF
  • Orange alert highlight while rendering (uses Blender theme alert styling)

User preferences:

  • Enable / disable wake lock
  • Toggle status indicator
  • Verbose logging option
  • Improved safety across Blender versions (3.6 LTS → 4.x)
  • Clean release of wake lock on render cancel and shutdown

🖥 Platform support

Windows: uses SetThreadExecutionState

macOS: uses caffeinate

Linux: uses systemd-inhibit (when available)

📦 Installation

Download the attached ZIP and install via
Preferences → Extensions → Install from Disk…

Enable RenderWake in the add-ons list

⚠ Notes

macOS uses caffeinate -d by default (prevents display sleep).
This can be changed to -i in the source if preferred.

On non-systemd Linux systems, sleep inhibition may be a no-op.
