Lectern 2.0.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Jul 16:48

Lectern turns lecture PDFs into Anki flashcards you can trust. Gemini reads the whole document, builds a concept map, and generates cards agentically, steered by a coverage ledger. Every card cites the pages it came from and passes a grounding gate before it enters your deck.

2.0.0 is a complete from-scratch rebuild as a Tauri 2 desktop app: no backend, no account, your own Gemini API key (stored in the OS keychain). See the CHANGELOG for the full list and the website for a demo.

Which file do I download?

Platform File
macOS, Apple Silicon (M1 and later) Lectern_2.0.0_aarch64.dmg
macOS, Intel Lectern_2.0.0_x64.dmg
Windows Lectern_2.0.0_x64-setup.exe (or the .msi)
Linux .AppImage, .deb, or .rpm

macOS: "Lectern is damaged and can't be opened"

These builds are not yet notarized with Apple, so Gatekeeper blocks them by default. After moving Lectern to Applications, run:

xattr -cr /Applications/Lectern.app

then open it normally. Signed and notarized builds are planned.

Requirements

Generation runs on your key. A typical 70-page lecture costs between a few cents and about a dollar.
