The piece moves with the home screen. It is painted a third wider than the screen and slides as you page across, the way a photo set as the wallpaper does. Paging repaints nothing — the piece is already painted, only the part of it being copied to the screen changes.

"Follow the system" now leads or follows, whichever the device needs. Android derives its accent either from a color you picked outright or from the wallpaper itself, and a wallpaper cannot follow something derived from itself:

• The accent is a color you picked → the piece follows it.
• The accent comes from the wallpaper → the piece brings the colors of attractors.steren.fr and hands them over for the accent to be derived from.

Either way one side leads and the other follows, the loop never closes, and the piece always has a color to paint with.
