v1.0.0 — First public release

Initial public release of the AetherCode Execution Engine — an on-premise,
distributed code-execution engine that accepts code submissions over HTTP,
runs them in isolated sandboxes, and streams verdicts back over
Server-Sent Events. Released under the
AGPL-3.0
license.

Highlights

  • Distributed hot path — Go HTTP gateway → PostgreSQL (system of record) →
    Redis Streams (dual submit/run, weighted 3:1) → worker pool → go-judge
sandbox → verdict, streamed back over SSE.
  • 7 languages — C, C++, Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, SQLite, with
    per-language compile/run limits.
  • Provable reliability — insert-before-enqueue, subscribe-before-replay,
CAS verdict writes, orphan reaper + XAUTOCLAIM reclaimer. Zero lost
    jobs
    verified at 5,000 concurrent / 15,000 submissions (≈121 verdicts/s).
  • Security & fairness — OIDC (Zitadel) auth, sliding-window rate
limiting, queue-depth admission control, idempotency keys, weighted fair
    queuing.
  • Observability — Prometheus metrics, pprof, structured JSON logs,
    per-request X-Request-Id tracing.
  • Two modes — run (IDE / ad-hoc) and submit (graded problems with
    hidden tests).

Versioning

Releases are cut from the production branch (the default) using
Semantic Versioning tags: vMAJOR.MINOR.PATCH.

  • MAJOR — breaking changes to the HTTP API, event protocol, or on-disk /
    stream formats.
  • MINOR — new backward-compatible features.
  • PATCH — bug fixes, dependency updates, and other non-breaking changes.

Pre-releases use a suffix, e.g. v1.1.0-rc.1. Every release must arrive
through the gated development → testing → staging → production flow with CI
(test + lint) green on each branch before it is tagged here.
