v0.2.0
Layout: Card or Endless. A new control at the head of the Fiche group. Card is the fiche as before, with its header, margins and the glass beyond its edges. Endless drops the header and the margins and makes the card's frames an endless page: one tile of the grid, repeated for ever in both directions, with no title, no glass and no end stops. Everything on the tile repeats with it (the bow, the dust, the filmed frames), so the page has no seam, and a scratch runs its whole length as on a roll of film. The operator travels to the nearest copy of each view, so Reading runs on for ever.
Arena addresses parameters by name, so a composition saved with v0.1.0 keeps its settings; it opens on Card, which is the v0.1.0 picture.
Measured offline like the rest: the picture either side of a tile's seam agrees to within float32 rounding, and every move goes to the nearest copy. The browser demo has had Layout since 9 October. Not yet run in Resolume: the Windows Arena check on 9 October was of v0.1.0, before Layout existed.

v0.1.0
The first release of Fiche: browsing a microfiche reader, as an FFGL effect for Resolume Arena and Avenue.
A microfiche reader magnifies a hand. The screen shows about a centimetre of film at 24×, so every movement of the hand on the carriage, every flick of the zoom and every turn of the focus knob arrives on the screen multiplied twenty-four times. Fiche prints the clip in a grid of frames on a card, puts the card in a reader and puts a person at it, and the look falls out rather than being keyframed: whip pans (a hand's ordinary movement, magnified, smeared across the exposure); overshoot and correction (aimed movements that obey Fitts's law with a minimum-jerk profile, land short with a scatter in proportion to the distance, and are corrected after a reaction time); crash zooms out to travel and back in, on a zoom that does not hold focus; the hunt for focus — past sharp, back, past again by less, and a poor operator starts the wrong way; a carriage that bounces on the hand's grip; a card bowed between its glass plates, so every frame focuses at its own height; silver, negative, diazo, vesicular and colour film with dust and scratches in the emulsion and a title in the header; and the reader's lamp, hotspot, screen grain and room light.
- An operator who browses by itself (reading, skimming, searching or a mix, free or on the host's beat), or Manual: the carriage, the zoom and the knob are yours
- A 2×–75× lens at f/2–f/16; a card of up to 16 × 16 frames, live or filmed into the card by a step-and-repeat camera
- Every choice seeded, so a show browses the same way every time
- 33 controls, a user guide
Measured offline by the plugin's own harness, at two rasters and on Apple's software renderer: a point out of focus is a uniform disc of geometric optics' radius to under 1% and keeps its light; the card's bow, read back out of the picture, is the model's to 0.0003 mm; the picture is where the hand model puts the carriage in every frame of 600, through pans, corrections and crash zooms; the carriage is the second-order step response to 2e-11 mm against an independent integration; every pan's duration is Fitts's law and its peak speed within 0.19% of minimum jerk; the hunt turns where the reaction time puts it and the picture's blur follows the knob to 1%; acts land on the beat to 5e-8 s. Twenty-three negative controls and eleven code mutations are shown to fail. On Windows it loads, registers and renders in Resolume Arena 7.27.1 with all 39 host controls as declared (software rendering, no GPU). It has not been loaded into Resolume on macOS. It costs about 2.4 ms a frame at 1080p and 9–10 ms at 4K on an Apple silicon GPU.
Downloads: macOS universal (Apple silicon + Intel) as a .dmg or .zip, Developer ID-signed and notarised after publication; Windows x64 as an installer or a .zip, not code-signed, so SmartScreen warns once. Drop the plugin into Resolume's Extra Effects folder and restart Resolume.
