Valve v0.1.0
The first release of Valve: the picture through a valve amplifier, run like a guitar through an overdriven amp, as an FFGL effect for Resolume Arena and Avenue.
Each stage is a real valve — Norman Koren's models of the 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AU7 and 6DJ8 preamp triodes and the EL34, 6L6GC, KT88 and 300B power valves — solved on the load line of the circuit it sits in, and chained like an amplifier: up to four preamp stages, then a single-ended or push-pull power stage. Nothing is a drawn curve, so the overdrive falls out: a 12AX7 crunches where a 12AU7 stays clean, the curve fades softly into cutoff and breaks hard where the grid conducts, a push-pull pair cancels even harmonics and draws a crossover step when biased cold.
- RGB, Y/C (the chroma as a subcarrier through its own chain, so hue survives) or Composite (one chain for both, so colour gain follows brightness)
- Rest Level for dark footage, Fit / Unity / Plate output, and a Show Curve overlay that draws what the valves are doing
- 24 controls, a user guide
Measured offline by the plugin's own harness (gains to four or five figures against small-signal theory, the grid-current knee, harmonics, crossover, hue and differential gain), with eight negative controls and six code mutations shown to fail. On Windows it passed all 9 of the fleet's Arena gate checks in Resolume Arena 7.27.1 (software rendering, no GPU). It has not been loaded into Resolume on macOS. The model is instantaneous: Miller smear, coupling-capacitor blocking and supply sag are not in this release.
Downloads: macOS universal (Apple silicon + Intel) as a .dmg or .zip, Developer ID-signed and notarised; Windows x64 as an installer or a .zip, not code-signed, so SmartScreen warns once. Drop the plugin into Resolume's Extra Effects folder and restart Resolume.
