Migration guide for v22

This version of the SDK uses API version 2026-09-30.endive. If the format of this API version looks new to you, see our new API release process.

Please review our API changelog for 2026-09-30.endive to understand all the breaking changes to the Stripe API, the reasons behind them and potential alternatives.

The PHP SDK specific changelog for v22 has the corresponding changes in the SDKs as well as SDK specific breaking changes.

PHP 7.4 is now required

Stripe PHP v22 requires PHP 7.4 or later. Before upgrading, update applications running on PHP 7.2 or 7.3 to PHP 7.4 or a newer supported PHP version.

Expanded PHPDoc union parameter shapes

Request-parameter PHPDoc now preserves complete object and list shapes within unions instead of representing those variants as a generic array.

For example, timestamp filters that were previously documented as:

int|array

are now documented with their accepted fields:

int|array{gt?: int, gte?: int, lt?: int, lte?: int}

Update reported arguments to use the fields and value types shown in the method's PHPDoc. If a diagnostic is caused by an imprecisely inferred local variable, add an accurate array-shape annotation to that variable.

No PHP runtime upgrade is required for this change because these types appear only in PHPDoc comments.
