Overview

The latest release of MPCR introduces support for both CPU and GPU operations, leveraging CUSolver for GPU linear algebra and BLAS/LAPACK for CPU linear algebra. This update provides an easy interface for R users to switch between CPU and GPU backends seamlessly, without requiring changes to existing code.

  • MPCRTile Structure: Removed all MPCRTile structures and operations. These features are now available as a separate R package, TLAR.

New Features

  • GPU Support: Introduced support for GPU operations using the CUDA Toolkit.
  • Memory Management: Added support for memory allocations on the GPU, with automatic memory transfers between CPU and GPU based on operation requirements.
  • Linear Algebra Functions: Enabled GPU support for all linear algebra functions, along with several helper functions.
  • Automatic Build: Implemented automatic building for GPU backends if CUDA CUSolver is available on the system. if not, the package will be installed with CPU support only.
  • Half Precision Support: Integrated CUDA CUSolver GEMM half precision support.
