2.0.2: CHORUS without the crackle

• CHORUS no longer crackles with feedback. The firmware hard-clamps the delay line's output inside its feedback loop, so a 5 V signal with FB above about 0.6 crackled. The loop now rounds off softly near the top instead. It is identical to the firmware below half the range, which covers every normal level. The right-click menu restores the hard clamp.
• Browser thumbnails: PHRSR's illuminated buttons no longer draw lit in the module browser.
• Metadata: module descriptions shortened, tags checked against Rack's own list, and a manual link to the new README.

Install: download the .vcvplugin for your platform, put it in Rack's plugins folder (Rack2/plugins-<platform>/) and restart Rack.

2.0.1: ROOM and CHORUS clean up

ROOM and CHORUS no longer distort or hiss at normal levels. Both faults were in the port, not the firmware.

• Levels. The audio input assumed 2OPFM's front end, where a 5 V signal filled the converter with no headroom and the wet path came out 6 dB hot, so ROOM's reverb clipped most of the time. ±10 V is now full scale and the wet path is unity gain. Saved patches will hear the wet signal about 6 dB quieter than in 2.0.0.
• Rate conversion. The firmware runs at its own rate (32.9 kHz for ROOM, 49.95 kHz for CHORUS), and the conversion to Rack's rate was crude enough to add grit across the band. It is now band-limited and interpolated both ways.

Measured with a 5 V sine, wet only: ROOM from −14.8 dB THD+N to −54.6 dB, CHORUS from −34.4 dB to −59.2 dB.

ROOM's feedback near the top of its travel is the firmware's own behaviour and is unchanged: some grit from about 0.9, a near-infinite hold at 0.98, and a runaway to full level at the very top.

2.0.0: the Super Synthesis library

The first release of SFS Super: the Super Synthesis Eurorack library by Chris McDowell, ported to VCV Rack. Ported with Chris McDowell's permission. The original designs, firmware and panel art are CC0; this port is GPL-3.0-or-later.

Each module wears its hardware panel, with the drawn jacks, knobs, sliders and buttons as its controls. Digital modules run their firmware at its own interrupt rates, with its tables and integer maths; analog modules are modelled stage by stage from their schematics.

Released designs

• 2OPFM: two-operator FM voice. The stock firmware emulated, plus five alternative firmwares from the context menu: 2OPFM+, modal drum, CZ, formant and bell.
• PHRSR: two 16-step phrases recorded live from one knob, transcribed from its firmware. The buttons latch and light, since a mouse cannot hold one down.
• SVFs: two 2164 state-variable filters that self-oscillate at full resonance.
• EG: attack/decay envelope on an LM13700, with one-shot/repeat and end-of-cycle out.
• VCAs: four linear 2164 VCAs; an unpatched output sums into the next channel.
• SCANNER: CV crossfader across four overlapping windows.
• TVCA: two-input tanh VCA with DIST.
• CHORUS: the firmware's chorus at its own 49.95 kHz rate. Panel rebuilt from the PCB.
• ROOM: the firmware's reverb, seven allpasses in one shared buffer. The firmware leaves its expo table short, which silences the wet signal with LP fully up; kept as shipped, with a context-menu option to complete the table.

Unreleased designs

• OTAVCAs: two saturating LM13700 VCAs.
• S&H: three JFET sample-and-holds, normalled up the chain.
• PNGBL: OTA state-variable filter with PING. The design has no panel art, so this one is provisional.

Known assumptions

• CHORUS and ROOM have no published schematic. Their input and output stages are assumed to match 2OPFM's.
• EG's converter reference current is assumed, and its ATTACK range runs slow, as the circuit draws it.
• SCANNER's output order is read left to right; the schematic does not name the jacks.
