What's new — v2.0.0 — Community Portal & Marketplace
This release introduces the biggest addition to Card Builder since day one: a dedicated community portal where you can share your Home Assistant cards with the world and download cards created by other users, all without ever leaving the integration.
Share and discover cards directly from the integration
The new Account tab in Card Builder panel connects you to the portal in real time. You can publish any of your cards to the marketplace with a single click and download what others have built. Downloads are handled automatically — no manual file management, no copy-pasting YAML, just a card identifier to pick from the marketplace website.
A free account is required to access sharing and downloading. Registration takes less than a minute.
Download slots and the reward system
Every registered user starts with 3 download slots. Each slot lets you download one card from the community.
To earn more slots, share your own cards. For every 100 downloads a card of yours receives, you unlock one additional download slot — up to 3 bonus slots per card. The more cards you share, and the more people download them, the more you get back.
Important: The 100-download threshold to unlock a reward slot is locked in at the time a card is published. As the community grows, the threshold for new cards will increase — but cards you share now will always unlock rewards at the current lower threshold. The earlier you start sharing, the better the deal.
How to get the most out of the system
- Register and link your account inside Card Builder.
- Share one or more of your existing cards to the marketplace.
- Spread the word — post your card's portal page on Reddit, the Home Assistant forums, Discord, or any social channel you use. Every download counts toward your reward threshold.
- Download cards from other users as your slots allow.
The community only grows if people contribute to it. If you have built something useful, share it — someone out there is looking for exactly that card, and every download they make helps you unlock more.
Getting started
- Install or update Card Builder to this version
- Creare a free account at https://www.cardbuilder.pro/ and follow the onboarding instructions to create an API Key
- Open the Account tab in the integration panel
- Paste the API Key created during the onboarding step
- You are ready! Start sharing!
