What's new — v2.1.0 — Weather Background Block & Marketplace
This release introduces a new block for Card Builder: Weather Background.
The new block lets you display a dynamic background based on the current weather conditions of the selected entity, including the position of the sun. It is designed to make cards feel more alive and contextual, while still being simple to use out of the box.
New Weather Background block
The Weather Background block provides a ready-to-use graphic that automatically adapts to the selected weather entity.
It can represent:
- the current weather condition
- the sun position
- a dynamic visual background for your card
This makes it easier to build more immersive Home Assistant cards without having to manually manage complex visual logic.
Custom SVG support
The default graphic is included and ready to use, but the block is not limited to it.
Advanced users can create their own custom SVG graphics and use them inside the Weather Background block. To make this possible, the release includes detailed specifications in the dedicated file, explaining how the SVG must be structured in order to work correctly with the block.
This opens the door to fully custom visual themes while keeping the block reusable and easy to configure.

The marketplace is here
Starting from the previous release, Card Builder introduced its dedicated community portal and marketplace: a place where users can share their cards and download cards created by others directly from the integration.
With v2.1.0, the marketplace becomes even more important.
The new Weather Background block gives creators another powerful tool to build more expressive and polished cards — and the marketplace is the place to share them with the community.
