SUPERSEDED — do not use the files attached to this release.
They are kept only so that anything already published from them stays checkable, and the
body below is left exactly as it was written: it was true for this release and it is not
true now. For the current rows, the current figures and the current file list, use the
three surfaces that are regenerated together — the repo's data/ directory, the site at
https://sujeito-operator.github.io/gumroad-market-data/ , and the citable archive at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21830103 (a concept DOI, so
it always resolves to the newest version).

1,511 live Gumroad products across 42 categories, measured August 2026. Free, CC BY 4.0, no signup.

What changed in v1.1

v1.0 recorded each listing's price as Gumroad displayed it, and Gumroad localises prices — so a single sample mixes currencies. This one does: 1,239 GBP, 228 USD, 44 EUR, with 40 of the 42 categories containing more than one. Every median computed across that raw column was therefore meaningless.

v1.1 adds a price_usd column converted at stated ECB rates and keeps the original price and currency so the conversion is checkable. The headline number moves:

v1.0 (mixed currencies) v1.1 (USD)
Median price, paid listings (n=1,428) $29.70 $39.00

Including the 83 free listings the v1.1 median is $35.00; the price anchor published across the site excludes them, as a price anchor should.

If you pulled v1.0, re-pull. If you published anything from it, the number was wrong and this is the correction.

What the data shows

  • In the median category the top three listings hold 65% of all ratings. Demand is not scarce; available demand is.
  • 33% of listings have no ratings at all — and free listings do far better than paid ones (98% of the 83 free listings are rated, against 65% of paid).
  • Price and rating count correlate at r = −0.075: essentially not at all. Charging less does not buy you demand.
