macOS: in-app updates no longer ask for the keychain
An update installed from inside Voltip no longer asks for the keychain. The running version hands its keychain entries to the new one, which stores them in entries of its own.
- Updating to this version still asks once for each entry, because the version you update from cannot hand them over yet. Allow and Always Allow both work. From then on, in-app updates do not ask.
- Installing a version by hand from the dmg asks once for each entry.
- Going back to a version before 0.0.15 starts with a new device identity; pair your phone again.
The notes of 0.0.12 to 0.0.14 said that later updates would not ask. That was wrong, and they are corrected.

v0.0.14
macOS: keychain prompts (corrected 2026-09-30)
An update to this version asks once for each keychain entry Voltip keeps, whichever version you update from: macOS files each entry under the build that created it. An earlier version of this note said otherwise. 0.0.15 fixes this for updates installed from inside Voltip; see its release notes.

v0.0.13
macOS: keychain prompts (corrected 2026-09-30)
An update to this version asks once for each keychain entry Voltip keeps, whichever version you update from: macOS files each entry under the build that created it. An earlier version of this note said otherwise. 0.0.15 fixes this for updates installed from inside Voltip; see its release notes.

v0.0.12
macOS: the keychain asks once more (corrected 2026-09-30)
This version moved Voltip's keychain entries, for example dev.voltip.desktop/voltip.identity.x25519, into entries of its own, so its first start asked once more for each. An earlier version of this note also said that later updates would not ask. That was wrong. Voltip is signed with its own certificate rather than an Apple Developer ID, so macOS files each keychain entry under the build that created it, and every update asked again. 0.0.15 fixes this for updates installed from inside Voltip; see its release notes.

v0.0.11
macOS: if the keychain asks about Voltip after updating
macOS may ask whether Voltip may use a keychain entry, for example dev.voltip.desktop/voltip.identity.x25519. If it does, choose Always Allow and enter your login password. The entry was stored by version 0.0.6 or earlier. Allow lets Voltip in this one time only, so the question comes back at the next start. Correction: this was not enough. Always Allow only trusts the build it was chosen for, so the next update asked again. 0.0.12 moves these entries so that later updates do not ask; see its release notes.

v0.0.9
History: now a database of up to 20,000 entries
0.0.9 keeps the history in history.sqlite3 in the data folder. The first start imports the entries of history.json and renames that file history.json.imported-<number>; it is never deleted.
- Updating does not change Settings › Privacy and history › Keep the latest: if it was 500, it stays 500 until you choose a larger number (up to 20,000, the default for new installations).
- Going back to 0.0.8 or earlier shows an empty history, because those versions read only
history.json. To see the earlier entries there, quit Voltip and renamehistory.json.imported-<number>back tohistory.jsonin the data folder (Windows%APPDATA%\voltip\Voltip\data, macOS~/Library/Application Support/dev.voltip.Voltip, Linux~/.local/share/voltip). Entries recorded with 0.0.9 are not in that file.
