  • Keep check --json stdout limited to observation rows. Send empty-ledger, not-due and filter notices to stderr.
  • Reject malformed ledger rows with line numbers and exit with status 2 before fetching or updating customer records.
  • Apply --fail-on-unknown to JSON and human output. Unknown observations remain nonfailing by default.
  • Detect duplicate placements across import batches and retain their original file line numbers.
