Grocy Android is an open-source Android client for grocy (source code). grocy is a self-hosted groceries & household management solution for your home.
Grocy Android uses grocy's official API to provide you a beautiful interface on your smartphone with powerful barcode scanning and intuitive batch processing, all what you need to efficiently manage your groceries.
This app requires a running self-hosted instance of the grocy server application.
It is a companion app, therefore it cannot run standalone or manage products itself.
You can try it using the demo option available on the login screen.

The developer of the grocy server application has released a new version 3.0.0 at the end of December 2020.
Among other great things it contains breaking changes in the API, which means that this unofficial Android app will not work properly after updating the server to version 3.0.0.
So if you want to continue using this Android app as usual, you should wait for our update to v2.0.0 before updating your server to version 3.0.0.
Version v2.0.0 of our app will probably be released in early 2021 and will then no longer support grocy server version 2.7.1.

Grocy Android requires at least Android 5.0 Lollipop and works properly on devices without any Google service installed.
It is also possible to use the grocy Add-on on a Hass.io server. Click here for instructions.
Self-signed certificates are not supported at the moment.
Right now, the server certificate has to be signed by a certificate authority (CA). This CA has to be public and trusted by Android.
To meet these requirements, you can use a free certificate from letsencrypt.org for proper https encryption.

Like the grocy project, Grocy Android can be translated, too. The main language is English, but we also maintain the German translation because it's our mother tongue. You can help translating this project at Transifex, if your language is incomplete or not available yet. Translations which reached a completion level of 80% will be included in releases.

This app is a project of my brother and me. We mainly worked on it during the first months of the Corona pandemic in Germany, just before our Abitur, when the schools had to close. Now the main work is done, occasionally we release updates with improvements and bug fixes.
