What's fixed in 2.9.1

The silent-mic bug

If Yappy started at login right after a reboot, the microphone could come up in a dead state: the pill listened, but no text ever appeared — no error, nothing. Fixed at the root:

  • Yappy now detects a dead audio connection within a quarter second of you pressing the hotkey and transparently reconnects, before your first word — dictation and Answers both recover on their own.
  • If the microphone is genuinely delivering no audio (a hardware mute switch, a dead USB device), the pill now tells you — "No audio from the mic" with a failure sound — instead of silently doing nothing.

Spoken answers

  • Answers no longer read or display the model's research narration ("Checking current rankings…") once the answer arrives, and bold text can't glue sentences together anymore.

Install

Download the DMG, drag Yappy to Applications, and open it. On first launch, grant Microphone and Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Existing installs update automatically via Sparkle.
