Releases: superuser-miguel/Tab-Session-Garrison

v0.3.3

Choose a tag to compare

@superuser-miguel superuser-miguel released this 26 Sep 18:07

On addons.mozilla.org: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/3035144/ — this is the same AMO-signed build; updates come from AMO.

The session list opens instantly on large profiles, plus quality-of-life fixes.

Speed

  • The session list now appears in a fraction of a second even with thousands of sessions (it could sit blank for several seconds before). Search is ready almost immediately.
  • The first time you open the list after this update, TS-G may show "Optimizing your sessions…" for a few seconds while it prepares. This happens once.

Improvements

  • Add several tags at once: separate them with commas, e.g. "work, research, reading". Undo removes them all in one step.
  • The undo/redo buttons show how many steps are available as a small badge, and in their tooltip.
  • Changing the date format or the open-button setting updates an open session list straight away.

Fixes

  • Backups: if a session's backup file couldn't be saved, it was silently skipped from then on. It's now retried on the next backup.

v0.3.2

Choose a tag to compare

@superuser-miguel superuser-miguel released this 24 Sep 14:47

On addons.mozilla.org: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/3035144/ — this is the same AMO-signed build; updates come from AMO.

Faster, and fixes for backups and restore.

Speed

  • The popup opens dramatically faster on large profiles: the session list and search now read a small index instead of decoding every saved session (every tab and favicon) each time.
  • Auto-save does much less work in the background after every tab change.
  • Large sessions scroll smoothly in the detail pane.

Fixes

  • Backups: with backups on, the "all sessions" mode wrote a full, uncompressed copy of every session every 30 minutes. It's back to once per browser session, and the compressed Complete backup is skipped when nothing has changed.
  • Opening a session in a new window did nothing when the Firefox homepage was saved without "https://". New windows now open on a blank page first.
  • Backups still going to the old "TabSessionManager - Backup" folder now use "Tab_Session_Garrison_Backup" (only if you never changed it). Existing backup files stay where they are.

Polish

  • The undo/redo arrows match the other header icons.
  • The placeholder page for not-yet-loaded tabs uses the green theme.

Note: this update upgrades the internal session database. Your sessions are kept; going back to 0.3.0 afterwards isn't supported.

(0.3.1 was signed on the wrong channel by mistake and never shipped; 0.3.2 is that release.)

v0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@superuser-miguel superuser-miguel released this 23 Sep 15:50

Now on addons.mozilla.org: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/3035144/

This is the AMO-signed build of the first listed release (reviewed and approved by Mozilla on 2026-08-09). Installing this .xpi gives you the same add-on as the store — updates come from AMO automatically.

  • Cloud sync removed entirely — the extension collects and transmits nothing
  • Help pages now hosted on the project site instead of upstream's wiki
  • Distribution moved from the self-signed channel to the public AMO listing; pre-0.3.0 installs upgrade in place and keep their data

v0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@superuser-miguel superuser-miguel released this 29 Jul 16:59

Fixes tab-group restore and makes tab-group names searchable.

Fixed

  • Tab groups restore with their names, colours and collapsed state again. Restoring a session recreated its groups but stripped them back to Firefox's defaults — unnamed, default colour, expanded. The restore path passed a Chrome-style callback to browser.tabs.group, which is promise-based on Firefox, so the code that reapplied each group's title/colour/collapsed state never ran. (Matches upstream #1631 and #1583.)
  • A single tab that fails to open no longer takes its whole group down with it. The failed tab was still counted as a group member, which made the grouping call throw and lose every tab in that group. It now restores with the tabs that did open.

Added

  • Search matches tab-group names. Typing a group's name surfaces every session containing it. The group chips were already shown in both panes, but the search index never included them — only tab titles.

Installed copies update automatically within ~24 h, or force it via about:addons → ⚙ → Check for Updates.
