First release of Septima — a GTK4 / libadwaita front-end for 7-Zip ZS.

Install

Download Septima.flatpak below and:

flatpak install --user ./Septima.flatpak
flatpak run io.github.superuser_miguel.Septima

Requires the GNOME 50 runtime (Flatpak will offer to install it). To update, download a newer release and reinstall.

Highlights

  • Browse, extract (progress / cancel / password) and create archives.
  • Modern codecs: Zstandard, Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, LZ4/LZ5, Lizard, plus LZMA2/PPMd/BZip2.
  • Compression-tuning dialog: level/dictionary/threads with a live memory estimate, named presets, split volumes, "optimize for executables", advanced switches.
  • Transparent .tar.zst / .tar.xz — create, browse and extract in one gesture.
  • Checksum calculator (BLAKE3, SHA-3, xxHash…) with verify-against-a-checksum-file and live progress.
  • Staged input list: add files and folders across locations, with drag-and-drop.

GPL-3.0-or-later. Portals only — no host filesystem access. Bundles 7zz (RAR decode-only).
