Added
- RealMedia, feature-phone 3GP, Theora and VobSub, through FFmpegBuild 3.8.0 (FFmpegBuild#7, thanks @williamliu0516).
.rm/.rmvb(RealVideo 1-4 with every RealAudio the container carries), 3GP / 3G2 (H.263 with AMR),.ogv(Theora), DVD LPCM, and local VobSub.idx+.subsidecars as external subtitle tracks.AudioCodecCompatnames the new audio asrealAudioandamr(DVD LPCM aspcm), all bridged; the video takes the software path.
Fixed
- The persistent HTTP/1.1 HLS ingest checks FIFO headroom before every segment and key request. The gap closed in 7.40.0 only covered a clear segment whose last chunk filled the buffer; after an AES-128 segment the next key and segment request still went out over the ceiling. Seek, close, cancellation and a failed reader retire the wait. #832, thanks @orut34iop.
Changed
- A VOD load produces its first segments while the panel switches into HDR or Dolby Vision. After an HDR/DV criteria write the session start used to wait out the pre-flight gate, so on a title whose first two segments took 2.0 s to cut, playback began 1.5 s after a switch that had already ended.
HLSVideoEngine.start()is nowprepare()(open, segment plan, local server, producer) plusserve(panelIsInHDRMode:)(the master-or-media choice), and onlyservewaits for the gate. The gate still starts at the write, so the panel is never read earlier than before, and AVPlayer sees nothing until it has released. Measured on an Apple TV 4K with a Dolby Vision Profile 8.1 title: server up 74 ms after the write, every segment cut inside the 2.9 s switch,playing218 ms after it ended. Live loads and Profile 7 sources that may take the dual-layer route keep the serial order, and a hardware-decode refusal taken mid-switch is asked again once the panel has settled. The cap line no longer claims "most likely already in the target mode" for a switch the gate saw start. #348, thanks @badrabbit. - With object rendering on and no audio track tagged with a language, TrueHD Atmos or DTS:X replaces the default track. The fallback compared the default's language and had none to compare, so a file that tags nothing (Dolby's Unfold demo) opened on its E-AC-3 JOC, and a host that remembered the TrueHD pick paid a second load for the switch. One tagged track keeps the old behaviour: the file names its dubs, and an untagged default is not matched by guess.
