AetherPlayer 0.18.1
One fix, on the iOS player: a live channel paused and left in the background came back to a player that did nothing.
Player
-
A live channel tunes again when you come back to it. A paused session left in the background for more than about 15 seconds has its video pipeline released by the engine, deliberately, so it cannot hold decode resources across a suspension, and the player rebuilds it at its position on return. A live stream opened through Open URL cannot be rebuilt that way. It plays from a forward-only feed with no position to reopen at, and the DVR window goes with the pipeline, so the engine refuses the rebuild (AetherEngine#526). The player ignored that refusal and sat on the dead session. It now opens the channel again and plays from the live edge. Two cases are left alone:
- A file still resumes paused on the frame it left.
- A live session that survived the background keeps your pause, and keeps playing if it played through with background audio or picture in picture.
A live session that was playing but did not advance while the app was away (suspended rather than playing on) is behind the broadcast by the whole gap, and tunes again too. The diagnostics log records every live return with how long the app was away and what the player decided.
The engine pin stays at AetherEngine 7.0.0.
