Release list
Switch 3.3.1
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping several AI coding-tool accounts ready and switching the account used by new sessions.
New
- Claude Code accounts. Each Claude Code account is a separate profile with its own
CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR, so several stay signed in at once. The default applies to sessions launched through Switch; a plainclaudecommand keeps its own login. Switch never copies or reads Claude credentials. - New app icon: an emergency-stop button on an ivory tile.
Codex CLI and Grok Build switching are unchanged. Grok Build does not expose usage data, so Grok support is account switching only.
Install
Download Switch-v3.3.1-mac-arm64.zip, unzip it, and move Switch.app to Applications. Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Install the command-line tool for each provider you use.
This build has an ad hoc signature and is not notarized. If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
The terminal interface remains available through the @smdl/switch npm package.

Switch 3.2.1
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release removes an accidental fan-monitoring and fan-control module that belonged
to another app. Switch no longer opens AppleSMC, talks to smctld, ships fan-control code,
or shows fan controls in its menu-bar popover.
Switch retains the idle CPU fix, three-minute usage refresh, Open at Login,
provider-scoped defaults, and custom grouped controls added in 3.1.x.
Download the Mac ZIP, unzip it, and move Switch.app to Applications. Switch
requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Install Codex CLI or Grok Build for
the provider you use. Grok Build does not expose subscription quota data to
Switch, so Grok support is account switching only.
The terminal interface remains available through the @smdl/switch npm package.
Switch 3.2.0
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release adds a compact fan row to the menu-bar popover. It shows live RPM and
percentage of maximum speed, with a contiguous Auto, Cool, and Max control matching
Switch's Ivory and Espresso popover styles. Fan sensors are read only while the
popover is visible, on a three-second cadence, so the feature adds no idle polling.
Monitoring works directly through the Mac's SMC. Fan writes remain read-only unless
the optional smctl daemon is available; when enabled, Switch uses smctl's verified,
thermal-guarded control path instead of writing fan state directly.
This release also retains the idle CPU fix, three-minute usage refresh, Open at Login,
provider-scoped defaults, and the custom grouped controls added in 3.1.x.
Switch 3.1.4
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release fixes the idle CPU spikes caused by Chat History reacting to unrelated
provider-home writes and repeatedly rereading growing transcripts. Switch now filters
and coalesces relevant file events, resumes JSONL parsing from a verified append
boundary, and reapplies thread metadata only when it changes.
Usage in the app and menu bar still refreshes at launch and every three minutes.
Open at Login and the compact Switch grouped controls remain available in Settings.
Switch 3.1.3
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release adds an Open at Login setting backed by the macOS login-item service.
When enabled, Switch starts quietly in the menu bar after sign-in. Normal launches
still open the main window, and Settings links to Login Items when macOS requires
approval.
The token-period controls now use the same compact Switch styling in the main
window and Settings, with clear selected, hover, focus, pressed, and disabled states.
Switch 3.1.2
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release gives Codex CLI and Grok Build separate default accounts while both
providers continue to use the same switching engine. It also refreshes available
usage data at launch and every three minutes, keeping the main app and menu bar
current without opening the popover. Terminal actions now begin with compact
semantic glyphs for faster scanning.
The README now explains shared account switching first and keeps provider-specific
credentials, session behavior, and feature limits in short provider notes.
Switch 3.1.1
Switch is a native macOS app for keeping multiple AI coding-tool accounts ready
and switching the account used by new sessions.
This release adds Grok Build subscription-account switching through the
official CLI's OAuth login and ~/.grok/auth.json. When the browser cannot
complete its local callback, the Grok sign-in sheet accepts the authorization
code or callback URL without saving it. The release also includes Codex usage
limits, token activity, conversation history, imports, and Cleanup.
The release also includes the @smdl/switch npm package for terminal use.

Download the Mac ZIP, unzip it, and move Switch.app to Applications. Switch
