Maintenance release: removes the last of the leftover upstream (BoxyStudio) code and branding from the "Booked" fork.
π₯ Install
Download overbooked.zip below, then Plugins β Add New β Upload Plugin. The archive unpacks to overbooked/ and includes vendor/ and dist/, so it activates with no build step. Upgrading from 2.5.1 is a straight replace.
What changed in 2.5.2
- Removed a dead upstream support call.
booked_get_kb_article()inincludes/functions.phpfetched help-article text from the original vendor's Ticksy API (api.ticksy.com/v1/boxystudio/β¦) with a hard-coded key, via an unguardedfile_get_contents(). It was defined but called nowhere β verified across PHP, JS, templates and dynamic invocation β so removing it changes no behaviour while dropping an external network call and a bundled third-party key. - Scrubbed residual vendor branding (name, email, URLs) from bundled translation files (
.po/.pot/.mo). These were inert β the add-on textdomains are never loaded and the source strings no longer exist β but they still carried the upstream vendor's details on disk. Existing Russian and Swedish translations were preserved byte-for-byte; only the branding was replaced.
A repo-wide search for the upstream vendor now returns nothing (outside vendor/).
Verified
- All 116 PHP files lint clean on PHP 8.3 and 8.4 (enforced by CI)
- The two recompiled
.mocatalogs still parse as valid gettext, with every real translation preserved (checked against a backup β zero non-header changes) - The packaged ZIP was extracted and re-checked: correct version, no vendor code or branding
Requirements
- WordPress 5.0+ (tested up to 6.8)
- PHP 8.3+
- Optional: WooCommerce for paid bookings
