Post Poster 1.0.1
First tagged release. Clears out debug code that was shipping to production and fixes a
PHP 8 warning.
π₯ Install
Download post-poster.zip below, then Plugins β Add New β Upload Plugin in
WordPress. The archive unpacks to post-poster/, so it also drops straight into
wp-content/plugins/ over SFTP.
Upgrading from 1.0.0 is a straight replace β settings and cached queries are unaffected.
π Fixes
- Debug logging on every Load More request. The AJAX handler called
error_log()
unconditionally, filling the site's PHP error log on any page using
pagination="load_more". The diagnostic is still there for developers, but now only runs
whenWP_DEBUGis enabled. - Nine
console.logcalls in shipped JavaScript.admin.jslogged form state and
shortcode assembly;frontend.jslogged every Load More response β visible in every
visitor's browser console. Removed. - A leftover debug CSS class. Every grid carried
pp-debug-theme-*alongside the real
pp-theme-*class. Removed. - PHP 8 warning.
enqueue_frontend_assets()readget_post()->post_content, which
raises "Attempt to read property on null" wherever there is no queried post β 404 pages
and some archive views. The??did not guard against that. Now checks the object first,
written for PHP 7.4 since that is the declared minimum. - Licence mismatch. The plugin header declared GPL v2 or later while the bundled
LICENSEis GPL-3.0. The header now matches.
No behaviour changes beyond these: the shortcode, block, admin generator, templates and
caching all work exactly as before.
π§ Repository
- Lint CI on every push β PHP 7.4 and 8.3, plus
node --checkon the JavaScript. - A debug-leftover check that fails the build if
console.logor an ungatederror_log
ever reaches shipped code again. It lives at
.github/scripts/check-debug-leftovers.py
so you can run it locally too. - Added
CONTRIBUTING.md,
SECURITY.md,
.gitignoreand Dependabot config. - The README now documents the full attribute set, including
show_date,show_author,
show_categories,theme, andpagination="load_more".
β οΈ Worth knowing
The transient cache is not invalidated when a post is published or edited β a grid can
serve stale results until it expires. Deactivating the plugin clears every cached query, and
there is a save_post snippet in
examples/usage-examples.php
to wire it up yourself. Building it in properly is the top item in CONTRIBUTING.
