Only useful if you have had trouble connecting to eBay.
The test now asks one address that has nothing to do with us
If every one of our addresses comes back blocked, there is still a question the test could not answer: is your server having trouble reaching us, or trouble reaching anything? Asking only our own addresses can never tell those apart — and they have different owners.
So the test now also tries one unrelated address.
- Unrelated sites answer normally, ours do not → the block is aimed at us specifically, and it is decided before the request is even read. That is something to take up with whoever put the rule in place.
- Nothing gets out untouched → the interference is general, not about us at all, and it is for your host to resolve.
The test says which of the two it is, instead of reporting both the same way.
What that check sends
Nothing about your site. No web address, no credentials, no data of any kind — it is a bare request to an address published for exactly this purpose, which answers with an empty response. It runs only when you press the test button, never during ordinary syncing.
