Zooming Gestures

Paul edited this page Feb 7, 2026 · 5 revisions

The sample- and mapping areas in the edit screen have full zoom and pan capability in both directions (key/vel for mapping, and time/amplitude for sample). These are accessed either through magnify gestures on a macOS trackpad, mouse wheel gestures, or through the zoom handle at the bottom corner. Because of a different set of OS-default key bindings, Windows/Linux mouse modifiers differ from macOS in a few cases.

Dragging the small magnifying glass in the bottom corner of the mapping area will allow zoom in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Users with a single vertical mouse wheel

  • Wheel: Vertically scroll if zoomed
  • Shift + Wheel: Horizontally scroll if zoomed
  • Alt/⌥ + Wheel: Vertically zoom
  • Shift + Alt/⌥ + Wheel: Horizontally zoom

(Note: macOS achieves the shift-gestures by the operating system converting shift-wheel into horizontal wheel; If your OS is configured differently these may vary)

Users with a two dimensional mouse wheel

The vertical mouse wheel gestures, plus:

  • Horizontal Wheel: Horizontally scroll
  • Shift + Horizontal Wheel: Horizontally zoom

Users with a macOS trackpad

  • Shift + Pinch-magnify: Vertical zoom
  • 2 finger pan left/right: Horizontal scroll
  • 2 finger pan up/down: Vertical scroll
  • ⌥ + 2 finger pan left/right: Horizontal zoom
  • ⌥ + 2 finger pan left/right: Vertical zoom
