First release. A small native macOS scanner app that just scans. In color. Even after Rosetta is gone.

What it does

  • Scans a flatbed to PDF, PNG, JPEG or TIFF in color, grayscale or black & white, at any resolution the scanner offers.
  • Preview the glass, drag to select an area, move or resize it.
  • Append further scans as pages to the last PDF.
  • Recent scans with thumbnails; files land in ~/Documents/Scans, named by timestamp, never overwritten.
  • Two engines: Apple's Image Capture driver stack first, SANE (brew install sane-backends) as the automatic fallback that keeps working after macOS 28 drops Rosetta.

Verified on a Samsung M2070 over USB on macOS 27: discovery, preview, color PDF, grayscale PNG, area scans, multi-page append, cancel, busy handling, through both engines.

Download: EasyScan-1.0.0-arm64.zip is an Apple Silicon build, signed ad hoc and not notarized. On first launch, right-click the app and choose Open, or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine EasyScan.app. Or build it yourself with ./build.sh --install --run.

Requires macOS 14 or later. License: BSD Zero Clause.
