Weekly Meetings
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I proposed the StudyBank idea to the team, discussed the problem we want to solve (scattered study materials and lack of access to tutoring) and agreed on the team roles; I took the Scrum Master role.
-
What obstacles did I have? Defining a scope small enough for the course timeline, since the first ideas included many features.
-
What will I do next week? I will create the GitHub repository and prepare the Product Vision Board with the team.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I took charge of forming my team, and together with them, began analyzing all the possible projects we could do for the course
-
What obstacles did I have? I didn't have any major difficulties this week; perhaps what took me the most time and effort was setting up the product vision board correctly and ensuring it conveyed what we wanted to achieve with the platform.
-
What will I do next week? I will start researching a bit more about Django and its features, as it's a framework I haven't worked with before and it's where we need to develop the project.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the project idea, the main requirements and the initial scope of StudyBank. I also helped identify the main features that the platform should include.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main difficulty was defining a clear scope because there were several ideas for the project.
-
What will I do next week? I will help organize the requirements and start defining the first user flows of the system.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I created the GitHub repository with the project description and prepared the Product Vision Board, which I uploaded to the Wiki.
-
What obstacles did I have? Agreeing on the target users and the main value of the product, so the vision board stayed focused on EAFIT students.
-
What will I do next week? I will create the initial Django project structure and organize the backlog and the GitHub Project board.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? Following up on my plan from last week, I focused on researching and getting familiar with Django. I learned about its MVT (Model-View-Template) architecture, set up the local development environment, and worked with my team to define the initial app structure and requirements for our platform and the github definition.
-
What obstacles did I have? My main obstacle was overcoming the learning curve of Django, as it is a framework I hadn't worked with before. Understanding how Django handles routing, models, and template rendering took some extra time and reading through documentation to grasp properly.
-
What will I do next week? I will continue working on refining the functional requirements together with my team and start developing my assigned features for the project.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I worked on refining the functional requirements and understanding how students would interact with the main modules.
-
What obstacles did I have? Some requirements were still too general and needed to be converted into more specific tasks.
-
What will I do next week? I will continue refining the requirements and start translating them into development tasks.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I created the initial Django project structure and the README, and organized the backlog in GitHub Projects with MoSCoW priorities and the Sprint 1 issues assigned to each member.
-
What obstacles did I have? The installed Python version was not compatible with Django 6, so I had to install Python 3.12 and recreate the virtual environment.
-
What will I do next week? I will configure the base settings, the custom user model with institutional email and the shared base template, so the team can start developing.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I was in charge of setting up and organizing the entire project backlog on GitHub. I added all the functional and non-functional requirements previously defined with my team, along with their detailed descriptions and acceptance criteria. Additionally, I created the Git branches for the requirements assigned to me during our weekly meeting (RF-07 and RF-08) and started working on their initial development.
-
What obstacles did I have? My main challenge was organizing and structuring all that information in the backlog, as it involved managing a very extensive and detailed volume of data.
-
What will I do next week? Next week, I will finish developing my assigned functional requirements, push my changes to GitHub, and complete any remaining documentation in the project wiki.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the first technical decisions and helped connect the project requirements with the development structure.
-
What obstacles did I have? The challenge was keeping the structure simple while supporting all the planned features.
-
What will I do next week? I will start working more directly with the implementation and validate the first user flows.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I configured the environment variables, the custom user model and the shared base template and URLs (PRs #28, #30 and #32). I implemented user registration with institutional email (RF-01), login (RF-02) and material upload (RF-04), and reviewed and merged my teammates' Sprint 1 pull requests.
-
What obstacles did I have? Integrating several branches at the same time caused merge conflicts in
settings.py,urls.pyandbase.html, and we needed a way to share test data without committing the database. -
What will I do next week? I will complete the Deliverable 1 documentation in the Wiki and plan the Sprint 2 requirements with the team.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I finished developing the features for the study materials section that I had been working on since last week. I created the corresponding pull request on GitHub and successfully merged the changes into the main branch.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main difficulty was resolving some code errors during development, particularly regarding database models, as well as handling merge conflicts that arose when integrating the branch into main on GitHub.
-
What will I do next week? Next week, I will meet with my team to plan the next sprint and address any corrections or opportunities for improvement that need to be applied to the project.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I started working directly with the codebase and reviewed how the different Django applications were connected.
-
What obstacles did I have? Understanding the existing structure took some time because several modules depend on each other.
-
What will I do next week? I will continue working on my assigned functionality and test the main flows locally.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I completed the Deliverable 1 sections in the Wiki and planned the Sprint 2 requirements, keeping the profile editing (RF-03) and the logout fix (RF-21) for me.
-
What obstacles did I have? Splitting the Sprint 2 work so each member could work on their own module without depending on the others.
-
What will I do next week? I will start implementing the profile editing form (RF-03).
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I focused on refining and updating the wiki documentation from the previous sprint, ensuring consistency between the requirements gathering tables and their priorities. I also worked on improving and correcting the project backlog.
-
What obstacles did I have? My main obstacle was going through the entire documentation for review and revision once again, as it was very time-consuming and tedious to complete.
-
What will I do next week? Next week, I will begin developing my assigned features for this sprint, mainly focusing on the materials module, which is the section I have been working on.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I worked on improving one of the main user flows and tested different scenarios to verify its behavior.
-
What obstacles did I have? Some edge cases were not obvious at first, especially when different types of users interacted with the same feature.
-
What will I do next week? I will focus on validations, permissions and the remaining cases of the feature.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I worked on the profile editing form (RF-03) with first name, last name, university, program and profile picture, and on the component diagram sketch presented in class.
-
What obstacles did I have? Django's default file input showed "Currently / Clear / Change" controls that did not fit the design, so I had to change the widget.
-
What will I do next week? I will finish RF-03, fix the logout (RF-21) and apply the instructor's corrections to Deliverable 1.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? Started the development of functional requirements RF-05 and RF-06, which enable users to filter study materials by keyword, title, university, or subject.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main challenge was resolving errors that surfaced in the models and views. The initial code frequently fell short of the acceptance criteria defined for each requirement, which required continuous refactoring and fine-tuning to get right.
-
What will I do next week? I will Continue developing, refining, and polishing my assigned features.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I continued implementing and testing the assigned features, focusing more on validations and user experience.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main challenge was keeping the backend rules consistent with what users could do in the interface.
-
What will I do next week? I will finish the pending validations and prepare the functionality for integration.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I finished profile editing (RF-03, PR #57) and fixed the logout (RF-21, PR #58), reviewed and merged the tutoring request management (RF-12, PR #56), and corrected the README and the Deliverable 1 Wiki pages according to the instructor's feedback.
-
What obstacles did I have? The logout showed a blank page because Django 5+ only accepts POST for logout, so the navbar link had to be changed to a POST form.
-
What will I do next week? I will finish the Deliverable 2 documentation and the Sprint 2 video with the team.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I improved the project backlog and GitHub issues based on the instructor's feedback. My main focus was updating outdated issue statuses and assigning them to their correct sprints, which wasn't set up before. I also continued developing my assigned features.
-
What obstacles did I have? The hardest part was fixing code errors and adjusting unhandled design components that were left unmodified.
-
What will I do next week? I plan to finish my part of the development, integrate my code into the main branch with my teammates' work, and polish the documentation on the GitHub Wiki.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the sprint progress, tested completed functionality and identified some details that needed improvement.
-
What obstacles did I have? Some features worked correctly individually but needed more testing when integrated with the rest of the application.
-
What will I do next week? I will apply the feedback from the sprint review and start working on the next requirements.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I presented the traffic-light status of the project: the completed requirements, the ones in progress and the pending documentation tasks of each member.
-
What obstacles did I have? Coordinating the dependencies between modules so that pending tasks of one member did not block the others.
-
What will I do next week? I will follow up on the pending tasks of each member and report any blocker in the next weekly meeting.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? My main focus was centralizing all the project rubrics and in-class corrections into a single PDF document, as requested by the project managers.
-
What obstacles did I have? The hardest part was drafting and organizing the document. It was very extensive, and I had to be extremely careful to ensure absolutely all the information was accurate and complete.
-
What will I do next week? I will focus on implementing the requested improvements for the project and finally wrapping up my part of the development.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the current project status and checked which tasks were completed, in progress or still pending.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main challenge was coordinating dependencies between tasks so that one unfinished feature did not block another.
-
What will I do next week? I will prioritize the most important pending tasks and continue reporting any technical blockers.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I completed the Deliverable 2 documentation in the Wiki, prepared the Sprint 2 video with the team and planned Sprint 3, taking RF-16, RF-19 and RF-20.
-
What obstacles did I have? Keeping the architecture diagrams consistent with what was actually implemented in
main. -
What will I do next week? I will review the Sprint 3 requirements assigned to me and their dependencies with the tutoring module.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I finished my assigned development tasks and submitted the respective pull requests on GitHub. Once approved by my teammates, I integrated my two branches into the main branch. I also helped polish the final details of the project documentation on the Wiki.
-
What obstacles did I have? The hardest part was dealing with merge conflicts that appeared when creating the pull requests. I had to manually resolve these conflicts both directly on the GitHub web interface and locally in VS Code.
-
What will I do next week? I plan to start implementing project improvements with the help of the project leaders. I will also continue adding new features to the web application, focusing mainly on the study materials section.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the new sprint requirements and started working on features related to the interaction between students and tutors.
-
What obstacles did I have? Some flows involved different user roles, so I had to be careful with permissions and available actions.
-
What will I do next week? I will continue developing the tutoring flow and test different student and tutor scenarios.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the acceptance criteria of RF-16, RF-19 and RF-20 and analysed how they depend on the tutoring module.
-
What obstacles did I have? RF-16 needs the tutor rating model from RF-17, which had not been implemented yet.
-
What will I do next week? I will define the approach for the notifications so they do not require changes in the tutoring views.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed all the feedback and corrections provided by the project management team. I also started updating the documentation on the Wiki, focusing primarily on correcting the diagrams.
-
What obstacles did I have? The most challenging part was recreating the data model from scratch on a new platform. Adding every single table with its respective fields, data types, primary/foreign keys, relationships, and cardinalities turned out to be a very tedious and time-consuming process.
-
What will I do next week? I plan to finish implementing the remaining corrections in the documentation and start coding the new features assigned for this sprint.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I continued improving the tutoring functionality and tested the request flow under different conditions.
-
What obstacles did I have? One challenge was managing the different request states without allowing invalid actions.
-
What will I do next week? I will improve the request management flow and validate the transitions between states.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I defined the approach for the notifications: a separate
notificationsapp that reacts to tutoring request changes through Django signals, without modifying the tutoring views. -
What obstacles did I have? Avoiding merge conflicts with the tutoring module, which another member was changing at the same time.
-
What will I do next week? I will review the instructor's feedback on Deliverable 2 and the current state of the repository.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I finished implementing the remaining corrections in the Wiki documentation based on the project management team's feedback from last week. In terms of coding, I created a new branch
(fix/materials-list-filter)to clean up the codebase by removing unused functions and fixing broken links in the web application. -
What obstacles did I have? The biggest obstacle was integrating this new cleanup branch with the
main branch. I encountered several merge conflicts that had to be carefully resolved to ensure the production code remained stable for our next sprint. -
What will I do next week? I will start coding the new features assigned to me, specifically RF-13 and RF-14, which involve implementing the 1 to 5-star rating system for downloaded materials and adding new filtering options.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I worked on making the tutoring workflow more complete and reviewed how the different features behaved together.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main difficulty was making sure new functionality did not affect features that were already working.
-
What will I do next week? I will continue testing the integrated flow and work on improvements for the student-tutor experience.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the instructor's feedback on Deliverable 2 and the repository, and prepared a corrections plan with the tasks of each member and their dependencies.
-
What obstacles did I have? Several corrections affected the three modules, so the tasks had to be organized to minimize dependencies between members.
-
What will I do next week? I will reorganize the Wiki deliverables, update the README and implement RF-19 and RF-20.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I started developing functional requirements RF-13 and RF-14. These allow users to rate study materials from 1 to 5 stars after downloading them, and introduce new filtering options to sort materials by highest rating, upload date (newest to oldest), and most to least downloads.
-
What obstacles did I have? The hardest part was implementing the filter for the number of downloads. The logic wasn't correctly identifying the most downloaded materials; instead, it was treating them all as having the same number of downloads. I had to modify the
download_materialfunction several times and eventually solved the issue by using a@never_cachedecorator, which I had never used before. -
What will I do next week? I plan to finish developing my two assigned requirements for this sprint and wrap up the final polishing and organization of the Wiki documentation.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I reviewed the Sprint 3 tutoring requirements and prepared the work for tutor availability, session ratings and tutor sorting. I also checked how these changes would interact with the existing tutoring request flow.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main challenge was that the new features depend on existing tutoring states and permissions, so changes had to be planned carefully to avoid breaking the request flow.
-
What will I do next week? I will implement and test tutor availability and continue preparing the rating-related requirements.
Attendees: Sebastián Vásquez, Gisel Jaramillo, Samuel Serna
Sebastián Vásquez
-
What did I do this week? I reorganized the Wiki deliverables and updated the README, implemented RF-19 and RF-20 (notifications, PRs #63 and #64) and reviewed Gisel's materials fix (PR #62).
-
What obstacles did I have? A GitHub outage delayed pushing RF-19, and RF-16 was blocked until the tutoring rating model (RF-17) was merged.
-
What will I do next week? I will implement RF-16, add the technology versions to the deployment diagram and prepare the pitch and the video.
Gisel Jaramillo
-
What did I do this week? I finished the entire development for RF-13 and RF-14. I submitted their respective pull requests on GitHub and successfully integrated my code with the
mainbranch alongside my teammates' work. Additionally, I finished adding and polishing the unforeseen documentation updates on the Wiki. -
What obstacles did I have? The hardest part was resolving merge conflicts between branches during the integration phase to ensure the codebase remained fully functional.
-
What will I do next week? I plan to meet with my team to define our workflow for the next sprint, discuss what was left pending in this sprint, and determine the final improvements we need to implement.
Samuel Serna
-
What did I do this week? I worked on the tutoring availability flow and tested schedule validation, including invalid time ranges, overlapping slots and requests outside the tutor's available schedule.
-
What obstacles did I have? The main difficulty was integrating availability validation without affecting tutoring requests that were already working correctly.
-
What will I do next week? I will finish the Sprint 3 tutoring requirements, especially completed-session ratings and tutor sorting by rating, and run integration tests before merging.
