NANDO Programmer - macOS build v1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@swanduron swanduron released this 13 Sep 09:38

First working macOS build of the NANDO Qt host application.

What's in this release

  • NANDO-v1.0.0-macos.zip: a self-contained nando.app (Qt 5.15 frameworks bundled, no Homebrew/Qt install required). Ad-hoc signed only (not notarized) — see install notes below.

macOS-specific fixes in this build

  • Ported serial_port.{h,cpp} from boost::asio::io_service/deadline_timer (removed in recent Boost) to io_context/steady_timer
  • Fixed qt.pro boost linking for macOS's ld64 (the old -Wl,-Bstatic/-Bdynamic flags are GNU-ld only)
  • Enabled HiDPI scaling (Qt::AA_EnableHighDpiScaling) — without it the UI rendered tiny and mis-measured on Retina displays
  • Fixed the hex-viewer custom widget caching stale font metrics after a stylesheet/font change, which caused the ADDRESS column text to overflow into HEX
  • Removed two empty leftover QToolBars and a hardcoded 50px button width cap that clipped the "Detect" label
  • New app icon (qt/img/AppIcon.icns)
  • Restyled UI (Fusion style + a QSS stylesheet)
  • Chip DB CSV lookup: the original lookup only checked CWD and QStandardPaths::ConfigLocation, neither of which is populated when a .app is launched from Finder, so the chip database silently loaded empty. Now the app bundles both CSVs into Contents/Resources and, on first run, asks you to confirm which CSV file to use (bundled default or your own), remembering the choice per machine.

Install notes

This build is ad-hoc signed, not notarized (no Apple Developer account involved). On first launch, right-click nando.app → Open, or go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway if macOS blocks it.

Requires

The actual NANDO STM32 programmer hardware (see repo README/KiCad files) to do any real chip read/write/erase — this release has only been smoke-tested without hardware attached (UI, file/hex view, chip DB editing).
