Local Studio 3.0.1

A follow-up to 3.0.0. It fixes branding and brings the local-ai-registry features ported from community PRs.

Local Studio's own icon and name

3.0.0 shipped with upstream T3 Code's app icon and still said "T3 Code" in several places. 3.0.1 uses the Local Studio cube everywhere:

  • App icons on macOS, Windows and Linux, plus the web favicons and touch icon. The cube was redrawn as a vector from the 2.x icon.
  • Development builds (Local Studio Dev) use the same cube in blue.
  • Names in the app: the welcome wizard, the label on assistant messages, the timeline icon for app tools, the name a browser or phone sees, device names under Settings → Connections, the startup error and shutdown dialogs, and the macOS permission helper.

Local Studio is still built on T3 Code, with full credit in the README and the 3.0.0 notes. It just no longer wears T3's logo.

local-ai-registry in Settings → Local

These features are ported from community PRs #449 by @gildrb and #465 by @BlivionIaG, via #477. Thank you both.

  • Recommendations: your GPUs, or your Apple chip and its unified memory, are matched against local-ai-registry hardware records, so you see what has been validated on a machine like yours.
  • Model browser: turn on "All hardware" to browse every registry model, grouped by model, with the best variant first and every variant one click away.
  • Per variant:
    • Inspect shows the full registry records.
    • Use config copies the launch command.
    • Download weights fetches the pinned revision onto that machine.
  • Share: give a working setup back to the registry. Share turns a running server into registry records.
    • It removes credentials, home paths, hostnames and private IPs, then checks the records against the registry's own schemas.
    • Nothing is sent until you confirm. The pull request to local-ai-registry opens with your own gh login.

Other changes

  • Controller docs again explain read-only captured recipes, cancellation limits and how auto ranks models (#475).
  • The README download table points straight at the release files (#474).
  • localstudio.ai now runs on Cloudflare and has a download page for every platform.

Upgrading

  • From 3.0.0: the app updates itself.
  • From 2.x: install 3.0.1 from the links above. See the 3.0.0 notes for what changed.
