v0.2.0
A small native Rust executable for inspecting and committing existing Git changes with Codex GPT-6 Luna at Max reasoning.
- Commit only by default;
--pushexplicitly enables pushing. - Stream progress, commands, and results directly to the terminal.
- Preserve native process identity, Ctrl-C, and Codex's exit status.
- Include
--dry-run,-C DIR, and optional interactive mode. - Use Rust throughout the runtime, integration/PTY tests, and release tooling. Python is not required.
Install
cargo install codex-commit --lockedOr on macOS:
brew tap syz51/tap
brew trust --formula syz51/tap/codex-commit
brew install syz51/tap/codex-commitOmit the trust command on older Homebrew versions that do not provide it.
Prebuilt archives are available for Apple Silicon (aarch64-apple-darwin) and Intel (x86_64-apple-darwin) Macs. Verify the downloaded archive against SHA256SUMS, extract it, and install the executable into a directory on PATH. Homebrew selects and verifies the correct architecture automatically.
Git and an authenticated Codex CLI with access to gpt-6-luna are required. The shipped executable has no third-party Rust runtime dependencies; Rust itself is required only for Cargo/source installation. Unattended mode grants Codex full local command access. Commit and push scope are agent instructions rather than OS-enforced restrictions.
Validation
Rust unit, CLI integration, real PTY/signal, packaging, and install tests cover Linux and native Apple Silicon/Intel macOS. Release binaries are built and executed on their native Mac architecture before upload. Cargo packaging and Rust 1.85 runtime compatibility are checked separately. Real Luna/Max tests also verified commit-only, optional push, and cancellation against disposable local Git remotes.
Codex CLI 0.164.0 can emit a session-history error during interruption. Live tests verified that cancellation still terminated Codex and its running child, with Git unchanged. Interrupting cannot undo operations that already completed.
