Rebased onto upstream fx 0.0.4. Includes everything in
fx 0.0.4 plus the Codex provider.

Upstream changes worth knowing

  • Crash fixes for adding screenshots to a prompt, and for changing reasoning effort in settings.
  • fx session resume, --prompt-permissions for headless approval on a TTY.
  • web_fetch follows HTTP 303 redirects; unknown terminal escape sequences are no longer read as Esc.

Fork changes since v0.0.3-openfx.1

  • Fixed a use-after-free in reasoning replay. The reasoning store handed out a pointer and then
    released its lock, so a parallel subagent could free the entry while another turn was still
    splicing it into a request. It now returns an owned copy.

Before you install

This signs in with the OAuth client the Codex CLI uses and calls the Codex backend from a different
program, which is not an OpenAI-sanctioned integration path. OpenAI can rate-limit or ban accounts
for out-of-client use, and the backend contract can change without notice. Read the
risk section before signing in.

Install

Binaries are unsigned, so macOS quarantines them:

Still unverified

Vision and structured output are translated but have never been run against Codex. Upstream's
Vision prefill fix in 0.0.4 sits above the provider layer, so it applies here too, but that is not
the same as having tested the path.

Built from source with Zig 0.16 for four targets; no CI is enabled on this fork.
