v0.1.0 — first release
First release of sketch/design: a hand-drawn whiteboard for system design mock interviews, with an MCP server that turns Claude or ChatGPT into your interviewer.
Install
Claude Desktop (one-click): download sysdesign-board-0.1.0.mcpb below and double-click it.
Other apps: the package isn't on npm yet. Clone the repo, run npm install && npm run build, and point your MCP client at node /path/to/sysdesign-board/server/dist/index.js. See the README for Claude Code, Codex CLI, ChatGPT and other clients.
Requires Node.js 18+.
What's in it
The board
- Pencil-style canvas with paper and chalkboard themes
- 27 system design components
- Arrows that stay attached to components, with labels, curved or elbow routes, and dashed lines for async flows
- Pen, text, sticky notes, zones and a laser pointer, plus undo/redo, keyboard shortcuts and PNG/JSON export
The interview
- A panel with the problem, timer, phase tracker and chat
- Voice input and spoken replies, using the browser's built-in speech
The interviewer's tools (13)
- Read the board as structured data, or look at it as an image
- Wait for you to speak or finish drawing, and talk back
- Pin comments on components, highlight them, and draw reference designs
- End with a feedback card of 1–5 scores
Running it
- Commands:
serve, install(Claude Desktop on macOS, Windows and Linux) andtoken - Security: the board only answers on localhost, and the HTTP
/mcpendpoint for ChatGPT connectors needs a token
Everything runs on your machine, and the AI uses your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription, with no API keys.
