FOBS (Field Observation Survey) captures a perimeter or an area in ATAK and turns it into an ordinary ATAK drawing shape with area and perimeter. Walk it with the phone in hand, trace it on the map, pick up a KML or a shape already there, or pull it out of ATAK's Track History. Split what came out wrong, join the pieces into one line, close the line into an area. Optionally, a walked track goes live to a Data Sync feed and grows on every subscriber's map as it is walked.

Six tools, one pane: Start a GPS track · Draw a track (drop points or freehand) · Select element · Import a track · Split track · Join tracks (tap ends or lasso).

  • The user manual, on the device: Settings → Tool Preferences → FOBS → Plugin Documentation.
  • Join tracks takes any open line on the map, not only FOBS tracks.
  • Split cuts exactly where the finger was, and the split pane has Undo split.
  • The End button stays visible while a track is paused.
  • An import that filters down to nothing now says how many fixes it dropped and why.
