Headline: the Connectivity Wizard grows up into a field-ready (beta) tool for getting a box online and reachable anywhere — a permanent home rack, an on-prem server, or a portable kit on the move — plus new power controls, a custom-certificate hardening fix, and a batch of platform reliability fixes. Updating is recommended; healthy boxes are left untouched.

Connectivity Wizard (beta)

  • Detects your network — clean public IP, carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), or double-NAT — and points you at the right path.
  • A free-tier cloud VM becomes your static IP. For portable or CGNAT boxes, a WireGuard relay on a free-tier cloud VM (e.g. Oracle Always-Free) gives your box the equivalent of a static public IP — clients connect by name, with no business ISP and no router port-forwarding. Works over cellular: carrier-friendly port and tunnel sizing so the connection survives mobile networks.
  • Setup WiFi mode — a headless box with no connection raises its own access point. Walk up with a phone, join its network, pick an uplink, and it comes back reachable by name. No screen, no keyboard, no cable.
  • Honest reachability diagnostics. Verify Reachability no longer falsely reports "not reachable" when a box simply can't probe its own public address (normal on cloud VMs and home routers behind NAT) — it says so plainly and points you to a quick phone-on-cellular confirmation. It also self-installs a detection dependency that could be missing after an in-place update, so the network-detection card works right after updating.

Also in this release

  • Custom-certificate hardened posture fix. On boxes using a custom (bring-your-own) SSL certificate, arming the hardened/compliance posture no longer fails with a false certificate-validation error — custom-cert deployments can now enable it cleanly.
  • Console Power Off / Reboot buttons, password-confirmed.
  • Rocky / RHEL and portable-networking reliability fixes across WiFi setup, firewall persistence, and relay self-healing.

Upgrade

Applied automatically on the next console update. Healthy boxes are left untouched.

Connectivity ships as beta — the network path is field-proven end-to-end (including over cellular); some flows are still being hardened across every device and network.
