PLSS Grid draws the Public Land Survey System over the map — townships, ranges
and sections, labelled the way they are called on the radio. ATAK ships MGRS
and USNG grids and nothing for PLSS, which is what wildland fire and
public-land operations actually use.

Download

Pick the build matching your ATAK-CIV version, sideload it, then load it in
ATAK's Plugins manager. A plugin built for one ATAK release will not load on
another.

ATAK-CIV File
5.6 ATAK-Plugin-PLSS-0.5--5.6.0-civ-release.apk
5.7 ATAK-Plugin-PLSS-0.5--5.7.0-civ-release.apk

New since 0.3

A user manual, in the plugin. Sixteen illustrated pages under
Settings → Tool Preferences → PLSS Grid → Plugin Documentation: what the
survey is and why the meridian is part of every address, downloading state
packs, the zoom thresholds that make an empty screen look like a fault,
finding a township, and what the clipped state-line data actually looks like.

An app icon you can see. The icon is now legible in Android's app list and
file browser, not just on ATAK's dark toolbar.

Reminders

  • The overlay starts hidden at every launch, like ATAK's own grids. Your
    colours persist.
  • If nothing draws, zoom in — townships and sections each have their own
    threshold.
  • The plugin ships with no map data. Download the states you work in once;
after that it needs no network at all.

Ports

Outbound TCP 443 (HTTPS) only, and only while downloading map data. No
listening ports, no inbound connections, no TAK server involvement, no CoT.
