WordLookup - Quick Start Guide

Welcome to WordLookup! This folder contains everything the application needs to run.

🚀 How to Start

  1. Double-click on WordLookup.exe to launch the application.
  2. The app will quietly start in the background. You'll see its custom icon appear in your System Tray (the small icons near your clock on the bottom right of the screen).

📖 How to Use

Whenever you are reading an article on Chrome, viewing a PDF, or reading code in an editor, simply double-click on any English word.

  1. A sleek dictionary popup will instantly appear near your cursor.
  2. It will display the pronunciation, meaning, synonyms, and an example sentence.
  3. If you move your mouse into the popup, it stays open so you can read it comfortably.
  4. Click the Speaker icon (🔊) to hear the word pronounced out loud!
  5. As soon as you move your mouse away from the popup, it gracefully fades away.

⚙️ Settings & Controls

Right-click the WordLookup Icon in your system tray to access the menu:

  • Run on Startup: Check this to have the app automatically launch silently whenever you turn on your computer.
  • Disable Lookup: Temporarily pause the double-click behavior (useful if you are playing a game).
  • Exit: Completely close the application.

🌐 Offline Mode

WordLookup comes packed with a bundled dictionary! If you lose your internet connection, the app will automatically fall back to its internal database, ensuring you can always read word definitions offline.

Tip: For easy access, you can right-click WordLookup.exe, select "Create Shortcut", and drag that shortcut to your Desktop!
