Fleet 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@tankxu tankxu released this 05 Oct 20:42

Changed

  • Fleet Canvas follows the terminal theme: a light theme now gets a light, more translucent board, sidebar glass, card borders, and card headers instead of a black board.
  • Claude and Codex buttons in a pane's tab bar are drawn in the button color, matching the symbol buttons beside them.

Fixed

  • Buttons and tabs along a card's edge on Fleet Canvas (browser toolbar buttons, tab bars of lower split panes) no longer lose their clicks to the divider between cards.

Built from cmux 0.64.22. Unsigned build: after unzipping, run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Fleet.app before first launch.

Fleet 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@tankxu tankxu released this 29 Aug 20:43

First downloadable build of Fleet — a fork of cmux that turns the workspace sidebar into a canvas, where every workspace is a live card on one board.

Fleet 0.1.0 · built from cmux 0.64.22

Fleet numbers its own releases from 0.1.0 rather than continuing cmux's version line, so the two never collide. Every Fleet release states the upstream version it was built from.

Install

  1. Download Fleet-0.1.0-macos-universal.zip below and unzip it.

  2. Drag Fleet.app into /Applications.

  3. Clear the quarantine flag — this build is ad-hoc signed, not notarised, so macOS blocks it otherwise:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Fleet.app
  4. Open it.

Universal binary: Apple silicon and Intel. Optionally put the CLI on your PATH:

ln -sf /Applications/Fleet.app/Contents/Resources/bin/fleet ~/bin/fleet

What's in it

The canvas. Every workspace in a window is a live card — a real terminal, not a preview. Cards group rather than split: the layout is an n-ary tree, so three workspaces sit at equal width instead of collapsing into nested halves. Drop targets read intent from position — into a card's interior to group, into the gap or at a row's end to insert as a sibling. Cards resize by proportion and never move on their own. Card titles show the running agent and session title with that agent's icon, and a manual rename is never overwritten. Each card's action row launches Claude or Codex in that workspace's own directory.

Interface. One theme accent (green) throughout, including the tab-bar chrome that used to follow the macOS system accent. Workspaces waiting on you pulse yellow instead of showing a steady ring. Only the focused pane blinks a cursor.

Its own identity. The bundle id is com.tankxu.fleet, with state in ~/.config/fleet/ and ~/Library/Application Support/fleet/, so Fleet installs alongside an existing cmux instead of replacing it or sharing its session snapshots.

Known limitations

  • Sign-in does not work yet. The server's callback-scheme allowlist needs fleet deployed first. Everything local — terminals, workspaces, splits, the canvas — needs no account. Sign-in only gates phone pairing, cloud workspaces, and sync.
  • Not notarised, and no auto-update. Hence the xattr step above. Automatic update checks are switched off in this build so it can never pull cmux's release feed and replace itself with upstream.
  • The iOS app is still cmux, and internal identifiers still say com.cmuxterm.
