Atlaspec 0.2.0-rc.1 — research preview
Pre-releaseAtlaspec 0.2.0-rc.1 — research preview
Scope correction, 2026-07-27: the original promotional assets showed routing, solar-shadow, and CCTV experiments that are outside Atlaspec 0.2. Those assets have been removed from this prerelease. The current Compiler Lab and corrected 60-second overview focus on the supported semantic map IR, linting, and deterministic compilation boundary. The tag remains an immutable historical source snapshot; post-tag corrections are on
main.
Atlaspec 0.2 is an opinionated semantic map IR and deterministic compiler for agent-authored cartography. This candidate adds multi-layer documents, renderer portability, migration, decision traces, and browser-backed renderer evaluation while preserving explicit 0.1 compatibility.
Evidence, with boundaries
The strongest current confirmatory result is the one-time 12-task local holdout: Atlaspec produced 120/120 accepted outputs and direct MapLibre produced 108/120, a difference of +10 percentage points with a 95% interval from +3.3 to +18.3 points.
The separate locked v0.2 development renderer diagnostic produced 68/72 healthy Atlaspec artifacts and 40/72 direct artifacts. Those are correlated runs evaluated with project-authored gates, not a fresh sealed holdout. The post-fix 72/72 replay is remediation evidence, not an unbiased benchmark estimate.
A post-release six-task development pilot has now compared official renderer validation plus the same one-repair opportunity. Direct MapLibre recovered to 6/6 final accepted outputs for both tested agents, tying Atlaspec, while Atlaspec used 51.1–70.6% fewer output tokens in the MapLibre stratum. The Vega-Lite stratum had only three pairs per agent and is too small for an accuracy claim. This is exploratory R&D, not release evidence. The sealed v0.2 holdout, an adequately powered precommitted repair comparison, hosted-model strata, human map-reading study, blind cartographer review, and production-readiness evidence remain open.
Product boundary
Atlaspec 0.2 represents cartographic intent, validates field and encoding semantics, and compiles MapLibre plus a fail-closed Vega-Lite subset. It does not perform routing, visibility, shadow simulation, CCTV placement, geoprocessing, 3D GIS, or arbitrary renderer-native customization.
