Repository navigation
Highlight exactly the selected text inside a code block, in yellow or red, with autonomous rendering in both Live Preview and Reading view.
New in 0.2.0
- Highlight code selection → Yellow / Red in the editor context menu, with matching highlighter icons.
- Persistent exact-text highlights stored locally in plugin data, leaving the entire Markdown note unchanged.
- Partial recoloring and removal, multiline and Unicode selections, and native Undo/Redo.
- Text anchoring after insertions before the target; ambiguous or changed targets are hidden rather than guessed.
- Exact text / Whole lines command mode in settings, with shared intensity. Existing
hl:highlights and original command IDs/hotkeys are preserved. - Separate red-text command, clearing commands, and a backed-up migration command for legacy local
ht:highlights. - Bounded processing, coalesced saves and safeguards for invalid storage.
Updating
Use Settings → Community plugins → Check for updates and update the plugin in place. Exact text is now the default; select Whole lines in plugin options for the original command behavior. Existing whole-line highlights remain visible.
Exact-text highlights are stored in .obsidian/plugins/select-code-lines-highlighter/data.json. Back up plugin data along with notes; copying Markdown into another note does not copy its highlights. Uninstalling as an update method can remove local highlights.
Validation and limits
Build, TypeScript, ESLint, all 108 Vitest tests, and whitespace checks passed. Desktop checks in Obsidian 1.13.7 verified both views, context-menu colors, partial recoloring/removal, settings intensity, Undo/Redo and reload persistence; the tested candidate was also used and approved by its author.
Mobile, other themes and long-duration application stress were not manually verified. See the README for storage limits and conservative anchoring behavior. The plugin is registered in the Obsidian Community catalog; its listing notes that it has not been manually reviewed by Obsidian staff.
