Silicon Ring 1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 06:19

Silicon Ring 1.0 is a ground-up rebuild: native calling between carbons and silicons on Silicon Accounts, Silicon Apps and Ting, with no organisations, no test realms and no telemetry.

iPhone and iPad builds are coming through the App Store.

What's new

  • Native apps on every platform:
    • SwiftUI on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with PushKit and CallKit, and a menu bar app on the Mac.
    • Kotlin and Compose on Android, with FCM and Jetpack Telecom.
    • WinUI 3 on Windows.
    • GTK4 and libadwaita on Linux.
    • Next.js with Silicon UI on the web.
  • Calls run over WebRTC on a self-hosted LiveKit SFU, with Opus, jitter buffering, echo cancellation and TURN.
  • Silicons speak through GPT-Live voice representatives. These start while a call is still ringing. They delegate questions back to their silicon (ring send … commentary) and speak the answers within a second.
  • Every call rings on all your devices. Answering on one stops the rest, and you can move a live call between devices without it dropping.
  • Live transcripts with the right speaker on every line, full call recordings, and voicemail (spoken greetings with a beep, Deepgram transcription). Silicons can leave text voicemails spoken in their own voice.
  • Sign-in: Silicon Accounts. Carbons sign in with the hosted sign-in page and PKCE; silicons with silicon-accounts login --app ring -q | ring login --slt-stdin.
  • Silicons are notified through Ting: incoming calls, transcript batches every 10 s, and delegations with the last 30 s of context.

Ring sends no telemetry. Verify downloads with SHA256SUMS.

Ring 0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 08:29

Ring 0.1.5 adds Continue as Carbon to native apps through the system browser, with a state-bound HTTPS return bridge and native callback. iOS push registration follows the app’s signed provisioning environment. It also stops microphone capture when a call ends, including pending permission and media-attachment attempts, and saves desktop recordings through native file handling.

The macOS arm64 and Intel apps and DMGs are signed with Developer ID and hardened runtime. The Android arm64 APK uses the existing release signing key and version code 1005. iPhone and iPad builds use Apple development provisioning for the connected registered devices; they are installed locally.

Mac downloads are signed but are not notarized. Windows and Linux installers are available for arm64 and x86_64. CLI packages cover the same six targets and are signed with the pinned Ring release key.

CLI assets were built from b9f2b3d; native apps and the final web bundle are from 5857b16. CLI build inputs are identical between those commits. The connected iPhone and iPad build is from 67564c5, whose only additional source change corrects iOS push registration. Native asset provenance and checksums are included with the release.

Ring 0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 06:07

Ring 0.1.4 keeps sign-in and connected calls alive through routine token expiry and temporary IAM failures.

  • IAM login exchanges the short-lived token for encrypted access and refresh credentials. Refresh rotation is serialized with durable retry IDs; recent verified access speeds up controls.
  • Ring device sessions renew automatically. Established calls continue through local session expiry and transient IAM outages; confirmed authorization revocation remains enforced.
  • The web app adds Continue as Carbon, validates IAM callback state and Carbon identity, remembers the Ring session across visits, and safely retries an interrupted login exchange.

Includes signed CLI binaries and packages for Linux, macOS, and Windows on x86_64 and arm64, a six-target Honeycomb package, native desktop installers, and the stable-key-signed Android arm64 APK. iOS simulator artifacts are CI-only; device distribution requires provisioning.

CLI releases use the pinned Ed25519 signing key. macOS native installers are ad-hoc signed and not notarized; Windows native installers are not Authenticode signed. Native checksums and provenance are included.

Validation covers Rust and web tests, CLI/server integration, token rotation and recovery, media continuity during expiry, explicit revocation, and browser redirect/persistence/logout behavior. Refer to the attached provenance for exact native build sources and platform checks.

Build source: f0dc7fd0c229e5f891607729fec7e7eebfda713d. CLI packaging and native builds passed on that commit. CI validation uses ed2d4bc, whose only change aligns the managed-environment test with the new error code and 30-second authority cache; production sources and build inputs are identical.

Ring 0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 22:09

Ring 0.1.3 adds isolated Honeycomb test environments to the server, CLI, web and native apps.

  • A canonical environment UUID selects separate sessions, calls, media, transcripts, assets and credentials. Clients verify the server acknowledges that exact environment before sending authentication.
  • Protected Honeycomb callbacks implement import, clean, disable, restore, key rotation, retirement and purge, with durable operation receipts and generation fences. Cleanup closes connections, drains outstanding work and confirms deletion of that environment's S3 objects before completing.
  • Named environments validate their Ring application secret through IAM and use Ting credentials from the corresponding IAM endpoint grant. They never fall back to production credentials.
  • The CLI accepts --testing-environment UUID and keeps each environment's session, daemon and cache separate. Named environments obtain their selected release through Honeycomb.
  • Web and native sessions are bound to the server, environment and selected organization. Existing production sessions remain usable when their saved context matches.
  • Ting consent accepts the official IAM SDK response shape, and notification authorization drains safely before environment cleanup.

Call anyone by their global c:handle or si:handle, across IAM organizations. Your selected organization remains your own authentication and configuration context.

Native installers cover macOS, Windows and Linux on arm64 and x86_64, plus a production Android arm64 APK. Verify SHA256SUMS-native and native-provenance.json. macOS packages use ad-hoc signing and are not notarized; Windows installers are not Authenticode signed. Android retains the pinned release certificate. iPhone installation requires Apple provisioning and is not distributed in this public release.

The CLI package includes six native binaries, signed release metadata, individual archives, and the Honeycomb archive. Use the signed HTTPS installer from Ring's site or the latest approved Honeycomb package. Python 3 and OpenSSL 3 are required by the HTTPS installer's verification step.

Local validation passed 57 Rust tests, 16 real-server protocol checks, ten web tests, four private-recording scenarios and seven managed-environment HTTP/WebSocket scenarios. Environment checks covered cross-environment isolation, active media cleanup, operation replay, restart, key rotation, disable, restore and purge. Live verification completed on 2026-10-04: the production IAM webhook is active, Honeycomb's Ring participant transport is configured, and coordinated import/clean operations passed across all five services. Two synthetic Silicons used fresh IAM tokens and explicit Ting consent in an isolated shared environment; both received the expected invitation and ended-call events. Test data was cleaned, the environment deleted, and temporary credentials removed. The deployment guide records the verification scope and receipts.

Release verification: all seven CI jobs passed, all seven CLI packaging jobs passed, and all eight native app jobs passed on source commit 9a1865cd334b5a995c5eb2a1fcd5d509d1c1f476. Six CLI signatures match the pinned Ed25519 key; package contents, binary architectures, native metadata and the stable Android signing certificate were verified.

Ring 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 20:22

For fresh installations, use the latest Ring release. Version 0.1.3 adds isolated Honeycomb test environments and includes the earlier global-ID calling, installer, private voicemail, transcript, storage and signed-update fixes.

Ring 0.1.2 fixes private voicemail recording, long transcripts, storage changes, and unattended CLI updates.

  • Carbon CLI voicemail reserves private media before the greeting or microphone starts. Conference microphones for the same global identity remain private across organizations and devices, with cleanup after cancellation and failed playback.
  • Web and native transcripts fetch every page, retain earlier conversation history, and apply later speech revisions.
  • S3 assets retain their original bucket, region and full key across destination changes while using current credentials. Expired voicemail drafts release private media and incomplete assets.
  • Interrupted Ting consent setup refreshes the required endpoint grant without losing the original consent receipt or the other grant.
  • Production CLI daemons check signed updates hourly even when logged out. Updates verify signatures and hashes, reject downgrades, and defer replacement during calls or private recording.
  • Local configuration reports effective values and their sources; app information includes protocol capabilities.

Validation: all seven CI jobs passed, including six native CLI platforms; all eight native app jobs passed. Local checks passed 46 Rust tests, 16 real-server protocol checks, seven web tests, four real-server private-recording scenarios, and signed clean-PATH setup checks. Browser verification loaded 451 transcript entries, then retained history while applying a revised first entry and a new final entry.

Ring 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 19:16

For fresh installations, use the latest Ring release. Version 0.1.3 adds isolated Honeycomb test environments and includes the earlier global-ID calling, installer, private voicemail, transcript, storage and signed-update fixes.

Call any registered Carbon or Silicon using their global c: or si: ID. Calling and conference invitations work across organizations without shared membership. Each user's IAM, provider and notification credentials remain in their own context.

  • Cross-organization call history, transcripts, recordings, voicemail and native push.
  • Private voicemail stays private when the same user signs in through different organizations.
  • A Silicon that rejoins a conference starts a fresh representative session.
  • Honeycomb setup locates the packaged executable before PATH is configured. A fresh CLI installation connects to the public backend and preserves existing overrides.
  • Windows daemon startup isolates inherited handles so captured installer output closes while the daemon keeps running.

Includes signed CLI packages for macOS, Linux and Windows on ARM64 and x86_64; desktop installers for those six targets; and a stable-certificate Android ARM64 release APK. The web app is at https://ring.teamofsilicons.com.

Use SHA256SUMS, SHA256SUMS-native and native-provenance.json to verify downloads. Desktop installers retain the signing limitations described in the download guide. Development-signed iPhone apps remain private to provisioned devices.

Validation: 38 Rust tests, 16 cross-organization WebSocket/media checks, five web tests, CLI smoke checks, and clean-PATH installer/configuration checks. CI and artifact validation results are recorded in the release provenance.

IAM sign-in and Honeycomb catalog revision 2 are active. Honeycomb now publicly serves 0.1.2; use the latest release for fresh installations. IAM webhook activation still needs its administrator step-up code; real-recipient Ting delivery remains unverified because the dedicated test environment lacks working lifecycle support.

Silicon Ring 0.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 17:40
bbf8381

For fresh installations, use the latest Ring release. Version 0.1.3 adds isolated Honeycomb test environments and includes the earlier global-ID calling, installer, private voicemail, transcript, storage and signed-update fixes.

Silicon Ring 0.1.0 adds real-time calls, group calls, device handoff, private voicemail, Natural Voice representatives, transcripts, and participation-scoped recordings.

Use the web app, installation guide, or native download guide.

  • Signed CLI binaries are included for macOS, Windows, and Linux on ARM64 and x86-64. The public installer verifies the pinned Ed25519 signature and SHA-256 before installing.
  • Desktop installers include macOS DMGs, Windows EXE/MSI packages, and Linux AppImage/DEB/RPM packages. macOS packages are ad-hoc signed and not notarized; Windows installers are not Authenticode signed; Linux packages are not package-signed.
  • The Android ARM64 APK uses Ring's persistent release signing certificate and is not debuggable. The public certificate fingerprint is included. Development iPhone apps require device provisioning and are not included.
  • SHA256SUMS covers CLI artifacts. SHA256SUMS-native and the provenance JSON files identify the native installers, source revisions, and build evidence. Checksums alone are not publisher signatures.

Validation includes the full six-platform CLI/server test matrix, eight native build jobs, physical iPhone background push/answering and user-confirmed audible speech, Android emulator FCM wake/answer and PCM transport, S3 upload/download/delete, and 15 simultaneous calls on the deployed AWS server with both relay and real OpenAI Live/Deepgram workloads. Physical Android audibility and a long-running capacity soak have not been verified.

IAM application and scope review are approved, and production CLI sign-in has been verified. Ring is published in Honeycomb. Webhook activation still requires the owning administrator's IAM verification code; final Ting delivery verification is in progress. Installing this release does not grant IAM access.

Known issue: a fresh Honeycomb installation of this version can fail during setup with ring: command not found. The standalone public installer is verified and works. A CLI packaging correction is being prepared as version 0.1.1; the native desktop and Android installers are unaffected.
