ShellCanvas 0.1.5 adds built-in desktop updates.

  • A small update indicator beside the connection status and clock checks for new releases.
  • Updates download only after confirmation, verify their signature, then install and close/restart the app.
  • Unsaved work, active tasks/transfers and attached drives block installation.
  • Saved hosts, settings, installed apps and app data retain their existing storage locations.

Install this release manually to enable updates: 0.1.4 and earlier do not contain the updater. Windows EXE (NSIS) and MSI installers are provided below, together with signatures, checksums and the update manifest.

The updater includes package-specific paths for macOS Intel/Apple silicon and Linux AppImage/DEB/RPM. Those release builds remain manual and live upgrades on those platforms are not yet validated; this release currently provides Windows installers.

Validation: 332 frontend tests and 250 Rust tests passed, with 4 opt-in tests ignored. Production build and Clippy passed. The optimized Windows app was built and the updater indicator was checked locally. A complete installed-version-to-next-version upgrade remains to be validated with a subsequent release.
