ReportScout 0.3.0
ReportScout 0.3.0
The first public version of ReportScout brings your HTML reports and visualisations into a local desktop library. Keep reports in their project folders, browse thumbnail previews or a list, and read a report beside your results.
- Browse by topics you choose and correct, with counts that follow your search and filters.
- Search Titles & topics for titles, topics, catalogue keywords and categories. Full report text also searches project names and text extracted from HTML reports.
- Star reports, add categories and link related reports.
- Find commands through the command palette, keyboard shortcuts and the shared Settings window.
Install and start
For macOS 12 or later on Apple silicon, download ReportScout-0.3.0-mac-arm64.zip, unzip it, move ReportScout to Applications and open it.
For Windows 10 or later on x64 computers, download ReportScout-0.3.0-win-x64.zip, unzip it, keep the extracted folder together and run ReportScout.exe. The Windows download is unsigned.
The Mac app is Developer ID signed and notarised. Its ZIP includes the stapled notarisation ticket.
A new library starts empty. Choose Choose report folders, then select folders containing HTML reports. Existing users keep their configured locations and marks. Git is optional.
Read the guide for installation, search coverage, topic suggestions and privacy.
Search and topics
ReportScout indexes HTML reports. It does not follow linked PDFs, Markdown files or web pages. Reports can load approved external chart or font resources.
Assign topics yourself, or ask an external agent to prepare and import suggestions. ReportScout has no built-in AI classifier and makes no AI provider calls. Low-confidence suggestions and suggestions for changed report content stay Unassigned until reviewed; your own topic choices take precedence.
Command-line use
The installed app includes its command-line tool. On Mac, show help with:
ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1 /Applications/ReportScout.app/Contents/MacOS/ReportScout /Applications/ReportScout.app/Contents/Resources/app.asar/scripts/report-scout.mjs --helpOn Windows, open PowerShell in the extracted app folder and show help with:
$env:ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE = '1'
& .\ReportScout.exe .\resources\app.asar\scripts\report-scout.mjs --helpThe download includes the app only. It contains no personal report library or prepared topic judgments.
