@techczech techczech released this 14 Oct 11:11
v0.22.0
ba5a2de

The first public release of WriteFlex, a keyboard-first Markdown editor for long pieces of writing.

Download: WriteFlex-0.22.0-arm64.dmg for Macs with Apple Silicon. Open it and drag WriteFlex to Applications. The app is signed and notarised by Apple. A Windows build is not ready yet.

What it does

  • Write in plain Markdown files in a folder you choose; nothing is locked in a database.
  • Turn a folder into a Folio: a running order of pieces with a Plan and a Board, reordered from the Outline, and exported as a single HTML page with working widgets and sortable, filterable tables.
  • Focus modes for reading and writing: fade, highlight sentence, line focus and a reading ruler that can stay on the typewriter line, plus read-aloud.
  • An in-app agent that proposes changes; you review each one before it reaches your text.
  • A Reading Room for PDFs and Zotero highlights.

Licence: WriteFlex is MIT. The bundled Zotero PDF reader is a separate program under AGPL-3.0; see THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

Known limits are listed in the changelog.
