OpenControl for Pixel Buds Pro 2 1.0.1
An independent, open-source Android app to control Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 — fully offline: no Google Play services needed, no INTERNET permission, no location permission, no account.
Features: noise control (Noise cancellation, Adaptive, Transparency, Off) and a Quick Settings tile · equalizer with presets · battery Left/Right (with charging) and the Case · Find My Buds (ring Left / Right) · touch controls, press and hold per bud and its noise-control modes · balance, mono audio, conversation detection, in-ear detection · dark mode.
Not included: ringing the Case or both buds, firmware updates, multipoint management, head gestures, anything that needs a Google account.
Requirements: Android 14 (API 34) or newer. Tested on a Pixel 9a with GrapheneOS (Android 17) and Buds firmware release_5.203 only. On any other firmware the app opens in read-only Safe Mode and sends no setting changes.
Install: download opencontrol-pixelbudspro2-1.0.1.apk below, allow "Install unknown apps" for your browser or file manager, and open the file. Updates: install a newer APK from the Releases page over the old one — it is signed with the same key, so your settings stay. The app never checks for updates itself.

In this release (1.0.1): fixes for 1.0.0 — values from the last connection are no longer shown as current, a malformed frame can no longer stop the app, the connect error no longer blames another app when the Buds are out of reach, no silent choice between several paired Buds — plus "Use different Buds" and an equalizer preset "Flat".
Known issue: after you stop a ring by touching the bud, the app keeps saying it is ringing until you tap Stop.
Changes: see CHANGELOG.md. Third-party licences: THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt below.
Risk: this app sends reverse-engineered commands to your earbuds; use it at your own risk (see the README's "Safety and Safe Mode").
Works with Google Pixel Buds Pro 2. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Pixel Buds is a trademark of Google LLC. Licence: AGPL-3.0-or-later.

Known issue: if the Buds can't be reached (case closed), the connect error wrongly suggests another app such as Google Play services is using them — open the case and tap Retry.
