Projects, Document Understanding & API Analytics

v1.3 is one of the largest LLM Controller CE updates to date, expanding how conversations can be organized, instructed, supplied with context, and monitored while tightening several important parts of the existing platform.

Projects & Instructions

  • Added Projects for organizing related conversations.
  • Added Project Instructions that automatically apply to chats assigned to a Project.
  • Added per-user System Instructions for browser chat.
  • System and Project instructions are combined into a single leading system message for compatibility with strict chat templates.
  • Project assignment remains session-based and integrates with the existing chat workflow.

Document Understanding

LLM Controller CE can now extract and provide document content directly to local models using Docling.

Supported document families include:

  • PDF
  • DOCX / DOCM / DOTX / DOTM
  • PPTX / PPTM / PPSX / POTX / POTM / PPSM
  • XLSX / XLSM
  • EPUB

Document conversion is CPU-based and uses locally stored Docling artifacts.

Expanded Image & Attachment Support

Image handling has been expanded beyond the original formats with support for:

  • WEBP
  • GIF
  • HEIC / HEIF
  • AVIF
  • TIFF
  • BMP

Unsupported model-facing formats are normalized to PNG while preserving the existing attachment workflow. GIF uses the first frame and TIFF uses the first page.

API Analytics

Administrators now have a dedicated API Analytics view alongside existing chat analytics.

API activity includes visibility into:

  • Request volume
  • Token usage
  • Completion timing
  • Models used
  • Recent API activity and failures

Existing Bearer authentication and OpenAI-compatible API behavior remain intact.

Import & Restore Improvements

The chat import system received substantial work in v1.3.

  • Administrator SQLite restores can preserve original user ownership rather than importing all conversations into the administrator account.
  • Existing .sqlite-backup, JSON, and CSV workflows remain supported.
  • Added configurable Maximum Chat Import Size under Admin Settings.
  • Default limit is 64 MiB and can be configured from 10–1024 MiB.
  • Project associations and newer conversation metadata are handled by the import path.

Security & Reliability

  • SMTP passwords are now stored using encrypted enc:v1 values; plaintext stored passwords are rejected.
  • Added the required v1.3 upgrade migration for llm_user_preferences.
  • Improved strict-template compatibility for combined System and Project instructions.
  • Continued tightening of validation, ownership handling, failure paths, and administrative behavior.

UI & Platform Polish

  • Reworked the application information modal for improved desktop and mobile behavior.
  • Application version information now comes from application settings.
  • Numerous responsive-layout, attachment, model-management, and general reliability fixes were included throughout the release.

Validation

v1.3 received both upgrade-path testing and a final clean-install validation on a fresh Ubuntu environment.

The final clean installation completed using the published installation process without additional workarounds, including local llama-server operation, model discovery, multimodal model/projector handling, Projects, attachments, and image understanding.

A final read-only release audit found no release-blocking issues or deferred-development comments remaining in the production source.

LLM Controller CE remains focused on providing a practical, self-hosted interface for running and managing local GGUF models with llama.cpp while keeping the system understandable, operator-controlled, and locally hosted.
