v0.59.0 - Improved split DNS setup
Fixes
CoreDNS Reload Method
Changed from docker kill -s SIGHUP to docker restart for CoreDNS reload. SIGHUP doesn't re-scan the import glob pattern, so new zone files weren't being picked up.
Improved Split DNS Instructions
Updated the Tailscale split DNS configuration instructions to be more comprehensive:
-
Global nameserver setup - Instructions to add 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 as a global nameserver (required for the "Override DNS servers" toggle to become active)
-
Override DNS toggle - Clear instruction to enable "Override DNS servers" in Tailscale admin (without this, clients ignore split DNS)
-
Verification section - Added
nslookupcommand for users to verify DNS is working before troubleshooting other issues -
DNS flush commands - Added platform-specific DNS cache flush commands:
- Windows:
ipconfig /flushdns - Mac:
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache && sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder - Linux:
sudo resolvectl flush-caches
- Windows:
-
Tailscale IP verification - Reminder to verify server's Tailscale IP matches split DNS config
